Season 1 Episode 5

Airdate:  7-4-12

Recap:  Christopher asks Rebecca how she knows about the email.  She tells him that she wants him to know how much she loves him, and that she doesn’t want to hurt him.  Rebecca tells him that John Ross is blackmailing her, and that three years ago Tommy moved to Dallas and his roommate knew Christopher and knew about him and Elena.  She tells him that all she knew was that he was going to be on the train and that he just broke up with someone, but she didn’t know what Tommy did.  She swears to him that she didn’t know until John Ross showed her the evidence.  He walks away from her and goes to Tommy and punches him, Rebecca tells Tommy that she told Christopher everything.  Bobby and Ann come over to see what is going on and Christopher tells them that is was all a scam.  Tommy tells him them that it was all him that she didn’t have anything to do with it.  Christopher pushes past him and goes into the house and packs Rebecca’s bags.  She begs him to believe her, but he tells her that he doesn’t want to see her again.

Elena tells John Ross that she is sorry, that she should have believed him.  He tells her that he is surprised she did go after Christopher.  Elena tells him that he tried to buy her off, she tells him that she and Christopher are done.

The next morning Ann asks Bobby if he has heard from Christopher, she wonders if everything Rebecca did was an act.  Bobby tells her that he called Mitch to see if they can do anything about Tommy and Rebecca, he tells her that he just hopes that Christopher is okay.  Bobby gets a delivery, he opens it thinking it’s about the sale of the ranch.  He rushes to JR’s room, and asks him about the deed that has his name on it.  JR tells him that he had a bad feeling about Marta, he tells him that he heard she was going to sell Southfork to Cliff Barnes, so he got a group of investors to buy Southfork from the Del Sol Conservancy.  
He tells Bobby that now that Southfork is his he is going to start drilling, Bobby tells him that it won’t happen.  Bobby tells him he is going to continue Miss Ellie’s legacy, JR tells him that he is following Jock’s legacy, and that he is only taking what should have been his.  Bobby tells JR that he is going to make it right, and walks out.  Ann tells JR that everyone told her about him, but she never imagined that he would stoop to something like this.  Christopher comes home just as Bobby is leaving to go see Mitch.  Ann tells him that Southfork is JR’s, Elena comes out and is surprised by the news, Ann tells her that she is sure that John Ross is deep into this as well.  Christopher tells Bobby that he is going with him.

When they get to Mitch’s office, they find that it’s empty.  They go to their other lawyer's office and they tell Bobby that the Del Sol Conservancy was never involved with the deal to buy Southfork.  They tell him that the police are looking for Marta, but since that isn’t her real identity, and they don’t know who she really is, it isn’t likely that they will be able to find her.  They say that the sale was valid, and since JR was involved with the second sale the only way for Bobby to get Southfork back into his name is to prove that JR knew about the first sale.  They tell Bobby to get all the private records from the deal.  

Rebecca calls Christopher, but he ignores her call.  Tommy comes in and tells her that she is lucky that he was smart to get all the stuff before she blew it, she tells him that John Ross was blackmailing her, and he was going to tells Christopher, she had to take the chance that he would believe her.  He tells her that he up two years into this and he intends to come out a millionaire.

Elena goes to see John Ross, she asks him what he did, he is confused and she tells him that JR told Bobby that Southfork is his and that he is going to start drilling on Section 18.  John Ross tells her that he doesn’t know what she is talking about.  She tells him that the deed to Southfork is in JR’s name.  He tells her that that is impossible, she tell him that everyone thinks he is involved too.  John Ross tells her that he’s got to call his father.  Elena asks him if he is even going to deny it, and John Ross swears to her that he doesn’t know what is going on.  She tells him that she was just starting to trust him.  After she walks out John Ross calls his father, but it goes to voicemail.

Bobby and Christopher come home and see the drilling equipment and oil tankers going to Section 18.  Bobby goes to JR’s room, but Ann tells him that JR left an hour ago.  He tells her about Mitch and what the lawyers told him.  Christopher tells his father that they have to fight fire with fire, if they want to beat JR and John Ross.  Bobby tells him that he won’t do business with crooks.  Christopher tells him that he is tired of letting people walk all over him.  Bobby tells him that he is too, but they are going to do it the right way.  He tells Ann to tell everyone to start unpacking, they aren’t going anywhere.

John Ross goes to Marta’s, she tells him that his father isn’t there.  He tells her to tell him that she didn’t screw him over and make a deal with his father, she tells him it was a better offer, and that he had said that he didn’t want to mix business with pleasure.  Marta tells him that she gave him chance after chance.She shows him a picture of him and Elena, he asks her if she had him followed.  Marta tells him that it was his father.  John Ross tells her to fix things and put his name on the deed.  Marta tells him that it’s too late.  When he tells her that he’ll go to the police, she tells him that he will lose any claim he has on Southfork if he blows his father’s deal.  He tells her to stay away from him if she knows what’s good for her.  Later she is watching the sex tape she made of them, she takes out the DVD and looks at it.
 

Bum tells John Ross that he came to bring him to JR, who is in a private box at the Dallas Cowboys stadium.  John Ross says that they were supposed to be partners, JR tells him that he is only teaching him the oil business, and that he will have Southfork just not yet.  He tells him that he is going to be leaving town and that he is leaving him in charge.  JR tells him that he is going to start drilling and Bobby will get used to the drilling.

Rebecca calls Ann and asks her to meet with her so that she can explain.

Marta leaves John Ross’s apartment right before Christopher and the concierge come up.  Christopher talks his way into John Ross’s apartment, and starts going through drawers, he goes into the bedroom and finds the note and DVD Marta left John Ross.  He watches the DVD and hears John Ross call her by her real name.

John Ross asks JR where he is going but JR tells him that if he doesn’t know then he can’t tell anyone.  He asks him when he will be back and JR tells him that it all depends on him.

John Ross goes back to the ranch and tells Bobby that he is glad that he is staying.  He tells him that he doesn’t want any trouble and that what is going on is between him and his father, and that he doesn’t want any part of it.  Bobby says that he really expects him to believe that, he says that all he has ever wanted was to drill on Southfork.  John Ross points out that his name isn’t on the deed.  He tells Bobby that he should have let him and Elena drill when he asked, then JR wouldn’t have been pushed to do this.  Bobby tells him that he is going to fight this.  John Ross tells him that JR left town and he shows Bobby that JR gave him his power attorney.  He tells him that he is going to start drilling and he hopes that they can stay out of each other’s way, so he won’t have to throw him off the ranch like Bobby did to him.

Ann and Rebecca meet up and she tells her that she is trying to find a way to tells Tommy to go to hell.  She asks Ann if she thinks Christopher can ever forgive her.  

John Ross goes to see Elena, and asks her to hear him out.  He tells her that he didn’t want to win this way, and that he has spent his whole life wishing he wasn’t JR’s son.  He tells her that he’s not sorry JR succeeded in stopping Bobby from selling Southfork.  Elena tells him that she won’t be a part of the war.

Bobby tells Ann about John Ross being in control while JR is gone.  He tells her that he caused all of this, she tells him that he didn’t JR did.  He tells her that he’s got to figure out a way to slow things down.

Christopher is drinking he picks up the DVD, and then goes over to Elena’s.  She opens the door and tells him to go home, he tells her that he is sorry, he stumbles and she helps him inside.  The next morning he wakes up and she gives him a cup of coffee and tells him to drink it and get out.  She then tells him that John Ross always had her back and never made her feel the way he made her feel the other day.

Ann goes to see her ex-husband Harrison Ryland.  He wants a hug from her, but she tells him that it’s not necessary.  He wants to know what she wants.  She tells him that she wants him to cancel his contract with JR.  He plays with her a little, but when she tells him to forget it, and goes to leave he tells her that he will do it.  He tells her that he has always liked Bobby and thought that JR was a prick.  He tells her that it will cost her that hug.

Elena goes to see John Ross, she tells him that she can’t be in the middle of the war between his family, but that she understands why he’s doing this, but she makes him promise that he was not a part of it.  He tells her that it was all JR.  

Rebecca is looking through one of the boxes of papers Tommy took, she quickly hides a paper when he walks in.  When he asks her if she has found anything yet she tells him that she hasn’t.

When John Ross gets home, he finds Christopher waiting outside his door.  He tells him that he has something to show him, they go inside and he plays the DVD.  Christopher tells him that it proves that he knew who Marta really was, and that he was conspiring with his father.  John Ross says so what, his name isn’t on the deed.  He wants to know if he’s going to show it to Elena, Christopher says that he won’t do that to her.  He tells John Ross that he wants proof that JR knew about the deal, and if he doesn’t get it to him then he will go to the police.

Final Thoughts:  I like how Rebecca is trying to make amends and going against Tommy, hiding what she found.  It's been a long time since I've seen Mitch Pileggi, he was great in The X-Files, I like that they have a new bad guy, and I hope that he will be in more episodes.

The Last Hurrah

Season 1 Episode 4

Airdate:  6-27-13

Recap:  Christopher wakes up from a dream that he was in bed with Elena.  He looks over at Rebecca who is still sleeping.

JR goes to John Ross’s apartment, and tells him that he’s hired someone to dig into Mitch’s son.  He gives him a packet of information on Rick and tells him to use Marta to get him, but John Ross says that he doesn’t want to use her.  JR tells him to find someone else then and fast.  

Rebecca answers her cell, its John Ross, he tells her that they meet to meet up and talk about the email that she sent to Christopher breaking up him and Elena.

JR is talking to his PI, Bum, about Marta, whose real name is Veronica Martinez, she has been arrested for stalking two former boyfriends, and threatened to kill one with a skinning knife.

Ann is packing up the house all the while getting things ready for the BBQ, Elena comes over and brings Christopher some stuff about the project.  Rebecca walks in and it becomes a bit awkward, she tells Christopher she can’t stay for breakfast since she needs to get to the law library.  Tommy tells him that she is just nervous about trying to pass the bar in Texas.  Christopher tells Elena to leave the paperwork and he’ll look at it later, he goes out to fix the cattle fences.  Bobby tells Ann that he is going to go help him.

JR goes to see Sue Ellen and gives her Miss Ellie’s pearls, Cliff walks in and Sue Ellen explains that Cliff has come to take her to lunch and give her some political advice.

John Ross and Rebecca meet up and he shows her the proof he has that she was the one to send the email.  He tells her that if she doesn’t get pictures of Rick doing drugs then he will go to Christopher and tell him about her scheme.

Elena goes to John Ross and tells him that she found an old stripper well on Ms Henderson’s land, but she won’t hear Elena out, she asks John Ross to come with her.  He asks her what’s in it for him.  He agrees to go with her.  Bum is watching them the whole time they are talking.

Bobby asks Christopher if he wants to talk.  He asks him if everything is alright between him and Rebecca, he tells him that it was a bit awkward this morning, he tells him that he can’t solve the problem by avoiding the situation.  

Elena and John Ross go talk to Ms. Henderson, and she lets them go out and check the well.  Bum takes photos of Elena and John Ross as they play around with the water hose.  Later Elena and John Ross go to see Sue Ellen, and she goes over what it will cost to start drilling.  Sue Ellen tells her that she will transfer the money.  She asks John Ross if he really thinks that JR has changed.

Christopher goes to the barn to find Bobby, he tells him that he doesn’t want him to be disappointed in him, he tells him that he and Elena were planning on getting married, but she never showed up.  He says that right before he and Rebecca were married he found out what really happened, he tells Bobby that Elena got an email, that she thought he sent, Christopher says that John Ross sent it, Bobby asks if Elena knows that he didn’t send the email, and Christopher tells him that she does now.  Christopher says that he loves Rebecca, but he can’t help but think of what might have been.   Bobby asks him if he thought he would judge him.  Christopher tells him no, because he would have told him the right thing to do.  Bobby says that he needs to make that choice for himself, and he has to let Elena go if he really loves Rebecca.  Christopher tells him that
he doesn’t know if he can.

Rebecca goes to the substance abuse meeting that Rick is running, after the meeting she goes over and talks to him, asking him if they can go somewhere to talk.  

JR tells Bum that he has never let him down, Bum asks him what he wants to do next.

Elena thanks John Ross for helping her, he asks her about them, she tells him that they’ll have to take it one step at a time.

John Ross gets home and finds Marta waiting for him, she asks him where he has been all day and why he hasn’t called her back.  He tells her that he just lost track of time and that he was with some guys at the bar.  She kisses him and tells him that she forgives him.

Rebecca tells Rick that she has had a bad day and that the only thing she can think of doing to feel better is to get high.  Rebecca asks him if he has anything, he tells her that getting high won’t solve her problems, she tells him that it will help her get through the night.  Rick tells her that he has been there, but that now he is finally clean.  She asks how he did it, he tells her that he fell in love and it would break him if he lost her.  Rebecca tells him that he’s changed her mind.

Rebecca goes back to her room and finds Tommy on Christopher’s laptop, she asks him what he is doing in their room.  He tells her that since she didn’t install the program he is doing it.  She tells him that she was afraid that they would get caught.  Tommy tells her that they can’t steal Christopher’s patent without access to his computer.  Rebecca tells him that she in only trying to protect them, he reminds her that they are here for the money, and that he has been copying the family papers, but she needs to keep up with her part of the deal.  She tells him that she is and to get out of her room.

Marta and John Ross go to Neiman Marcus after hours so she can buy him a watch, so that he won’t miss anymore dates.  He gets a call from Rebecca, who tells him that she couldn’t do it.  He tells her that she’s got until tomorrow afternoon, or else he will tell Christopher everything.  Marta asks him what’s wrong, and he tells her that he didn’t get what he needed with Mitch’s son, she tells him that she should have gone with him since they are partners.  She asks him to tell her what he needs to have done and she will do it.  John Ross tells her that they need evidence that Mitch’s son is doing drugs again.  Marta tells him to tell her where Rick is and she will take care of it in the morning.

JR talks with Elena and tells her that she should ask John Ross to the BBQ.  Sue Ellen comes over to have lunch with JR, she says that she can’t believe that this will be the last BBQ at Southfork.  JR wants to know about her lunch with Cliff, she tells him that Cliff thinks that she can win the election and that he offered to fund her champagne.  Sue Ellen asks JR what he really wants.  JR tells her that he wants a fresh start.  Sue Ellen tells JR that Cliff thinks that he is still after Southfork.  JR tells her that if he is guilty of anything it is for looking out for John Ross’s future.  She tells him that he’s convinced John Ross, but she wants to know if it’s really true.

Christopher tells Bobby that he still has the book that Pam and Bobby gave to him when they told him that he was adopted, Bobby tells him that it was the best day of his life, and that he knows that he will do the right thing with Rebecca.  Christopher goes to Elena’s house and gives her a check and thanks her for helping him with his project.  She tells him that she didn’t do it for the money.  He tells her that he wants to cover things so that later on she won’t come back claiming that it was her idea.  She gets upset with him, and he tells her that he is just trying to protect himself.  After he leaves Elena texts John Ross and asks him to the BBQ.

JR calls John Ross and asks him about Mitch’s son Rick.  John Ross tells him that Marta is taking care of it and he will talk to Mitch in the morning, he also tells him that he will see him at the BBQ.  John Ross texts Rebecca and tells her that he will be at the BBQ and that she should have done what he asked her to do. 

Marta takes her lithium pill while drinking a glass of wine.  She is waiting on John Ross who was supposed to be there, there is a knock on her door, she goes to answer it thinking it’s him, but it’s JR.  He tells her that John Ross is with Elena at the BBQ at Southfork, he also show her the photos of them the other day.  He tells her that he is sorry.  She gives him an envelope and telling him that this is what she did for his son and more.  He opens it up and sees photos of Rick and Marta in bed with drugs.  JR tells Marta that his son doesn’t appreciate the kind of woman he had in her.  He suggests that the two of them make a new deal.  

Lucy tells Ray that she can barely remember all the parties at Southfork.  He tells her that it’s because she spent most of the time trying to sneak liquor.   Bobby goes up and gives a speech, telling everyone that even though they are leaving the ranch everyone will still have the memories.

Rebecca sees John Ross and goes over to Christopher and tells him that they need to talk.  He says that he wants to show her something first.

JR shows Mitch the photos of his son, and tells him to redraw the deal, so that it is no longer a 50/50 split, it will all go to Jim.  He tells Mitch that John Ross can wait his turn.  Mitch calls after JR asking him to protect his son. 

Christopher shows Rebecca the new born calf, he tells her that he loves her, he notices that there is something wrong and asks her.  She tells him that she has something to tell him about the email that Elena got two years ago.

Final Thoughts:  I'm glad that it's going to be Rebecca telling Christopher about the email, but I bet he is going to overreact.

Season 1 episode 3

Airdate:  6-20-12

Recap:  JR takes John Ross to get a shave from the same place Jock took him, he sends the attendants away and starts to shave John Ross himself.  JR tells him that he knows that Marta isn’t really Marta Del Sol since he went to see Carlos.  He asks him if he was going to cut him out of the deal, JR tells him that he would like to make up for not being there when he was growing up and he promises to teach him everything he knows.  John Ross tells JR about Mitch blackmailing him, he tells John Ross that he will take care of it, Mitch is clean, but his son Rick has had problems, he tells him that Rick has three strikes against his record so if they can get proof he’s using drugs again then they can use it against Mitch.   He tells John Ross to find the witness from the accident Rick was involved in where he killed a woman.

 Ann is teaching Rebecca how to shoot, Tommy rides over and tells Ann about what he’s done on the ranch, she gets a reminder on her phone about Bobby’s appointment and leaves them alone.  Tommy tells Rebecca that he’s been trying to find a way to blow the Southfork deal, he asks her about Christopher’s gas hydrate, she tells him that she doesn’t understand it and that Christopher doesn’t talk about it to her.  Tommy tells her to install a program on his computer so that it will give him access.  He makes a comment about all the time Christopher is spending with Elena.

John Ross and Marta take JR to the men that they’ve been working with, JR changes the terms of the agreement, and they accept the terms.  Privately JR talks with Marta, he tells her that he is going to give her a pass for double-dealing with him but if he finds out that she is going to screw him over again, it’s a risk that she shouldn’t be willing to take.  He walks away and she opens a bottle of pills and takes one.

The doctor tells Bobby and Ann that they were able to remove the tumor, but it was larger than they thought so there is a greater chance of recurrence.  Bobby asks him about Chemo, the doctor tells him that there is a course of treatment he can start him on, but there are side effects possible, Bobby wants to go ahead, but Ann asks about the side effects.  He tells them it could be liver damage or in some cases heart failure.  Bobby tells him he wants to go ahead.  Ann says that she thought that the surgery would take care of it all, and Bobby tells her that she was right about the reason why he was selling Southfork, but he doesn’t feel that way anymore, and he tells her that he is going to call Mitch and stop the sale.  

John Ross goes to Mitch’s office and gives him the money he’s come up with, he tells him that it will have to be enough for now, when Mitch goes to call JR, John Ross tells him that he already knows and that if he goes to Bobby then the deal goes and he won’t get anything.  Mitch tells him that the sale of Southfork has been put on hold indefinitely.

JR’s doctor calls Bobby and tells him that it would be a good idea for him to spend more time at the family home to help in his recovery.  Ann goes to make up the guest room, while Bobby is telling her that this is a bad idea.  JR congratulates his son on his idea to get him back into the house, they send off another patient who was pretending to be the doctor.

Elena and Christopher are working on how to get the methane without causing tsunamis.  Rebecca calls and asks Elena to lunch.

JR gets to Southfork, he goes inside and finds Cliff Barnes talking to Bobby.  JR asks what he is doing there.  Bobby tells him that Cliff was in town and stopped by to say hello.  Cliff tells JR that he was trying to get Bobby to sell him Southfork to right the wrongs that the Ewing’s did to his family.  JR tells him that if he thinks he’s buying Southfork, then he needs a doctor more than he does.  Bobby tells JR that he turned Cliff down.  Cliff mentions that he heard Southfork was bought by a conservancy, he says that JR is taking this all really well.  JR tells him that he is a changed man, and that he should try it.  After Cliff leaves JR asks him why Cliff thought he could buy Southfork, Bobby tells him that he put a hold on the conservancy.  JR asks him why he would do that, he tells him that Cliff will do anything to get Southfork.

Rebecca tells Elena that she intimidates her, and she wants to be her friend because of all the things Christopher said about her, she says that she would be lucky to count her as a friend.  Elena asks her what she wants to know about Christopher.  She asks her what he was like when he was younger.  Elena tells her that when Christopher found out he was adopted he began to feel that he needed to earn the right to be a Ewing.  

When Rebecca gets home after lunch, Christopher asks her about what they talked about.  The doorbell rings and Christopher answers it.  A man at the door tells him that Cliff has invited them to dinner and his car is waiting downstairs for them.  When they get to the hotel Rebecca tells him that it was nice of Cliff to invite them to dinner, he tells her that Cliff w  When they get into the room he introduces Cliff to Rebecca, and asks his uncle what he wants.  Cliff tells him that he wants to invest in his gas hydrate project.  Christopher turns him down, saying that he isn’t doing this to support him, he is only doing this so he will have one up on the Ewing’s.  As Christopher and Rebecca leave, Cliff tells him that he will never be one of them and not to let them destroy him like they did Pam.

Ann goes to the barn and hears a noise, she takes out her shotgun, she looks into the storage barn and finds JR going though the family album and papers.  JR tells her that Bobby was right to want to sell, she tells him that Bobby thinks that now that he has changed and seen the error of his ways then it’s time for the next generation to have a fresh start.  

JR gives John Ross Miss Elli’s journal telling him that it is full of her secrets and that Bobby is going to learn that John Ross is JR’s son.  John Ross asks him what he needs to do.

Christopher gets up careful not to wake Rebecca and goes into the office, he finds Elena still there asleep, he covers her with his coat and starts to work.  The next morning the phone rings waking Rebecca, its Tommy asks her why he still doesn’t have access to Christopher’s computer, she tells him that she hasn’t had a chance since she doesn’t have access to his computer, she tells him that Christopher takes it with him.  Tommy tells her that she needs to do it, no more excuses.  

John Ross walks into the kitchen and tells Bobby that they need to talk, JR tells him to mind his manners.  John Ross shows Bobby the journal, Bobby asks him how he got it, JR tells them that he must have took it out of his room.  John Ross tells them that he found some interesting stuff inside, like the time Miss Ellie spent in a mental institute.  JR explains that that happened after Jock died and Miss Ellie was having trouble accepting his loss.  Bobby tells John Ross to save his breath, there is nothing in the journal that will overturn her will.  But John Ross says that it will at least give him his day in court.  He tells him that he will share every thought and secret shame of Miss Ellie’s is he pushes him.  JR tells him that he won’t let him.  John Ross tells JR that he had his chance at Southfork and he doesn’t plan to fail like he did.  JR smacks him, John Ross tells Bobby that if he doesn’t hear from him in 24 hours then he will file.

Elena wakes up to find that Christopher has figured out the problem, they go over to tell Bobby the good news.  When they get there Ann tells Christopher that Bobby is signing the papers to sell Southfork.  Christopher rushes into stop him, but it’s too late, Christopher tells him that he never gave him a chance, Bobby tells him that he grew up in a family were backstabbing was encouraged and he wants something better for his son.  Christopher tells him that he’s a grown man and can handle a lot more than he thinks.  Bobby tells him that he is right and he proceeds to tell him about his cancer.  Christopher gets upset with him that he is only just now telling him.  He rushes out, and Elena comes over to him, he tells her about Bobby’s cancer, he starts to cry and she hugs him.  He kisses her, he pulls away and tells her that he is sorry and leaves her.  Tommy has taken a picture of them, and sends it to Rebecca.

JR calls John Ross that Bobby just signed the papers.  John Ross goes to see Mitch, who tells him that he wants his 5 million or he will blow the deal.

Christopher tells Rebecca about his father having cancer, and he tells her that when he found out he lost it and Elena was there to help him through it.  He tells her that he loves her and wants her to know it.  He tells her that he wants them to go stay at Southfork till the sale is complete so he can be there for his father.  She tells him that she wants that too, while they hold each other she throws the flash drive into the trash.

Ann asks Bobby how he feels now that it’s sold, he tells her he feels fine.  She asks him if he is buying JR, she tells him that she found him in the storage barn and that JR was the one that gave the journal to John Ross.  Bobby tells her that he isn’t mad because that is just who JR is and who he will always be.

The PI tells John Ross that the witness what saw Rick kill the woman with his car has been dead for the last 10 years.  He tells him to keep looking.  The PI does have some news for him though, he tells him that he knows who sent Elena the email.  He tells him that the email was sent by a Rebecca Sutter.

Final Thoughts:  Cliff is back and is up to no good, I'm glad that Christopher doesn't trust him blindly like Pam did in the original show.  Christopher is kind of getting on my nerves.  I am liking John Ross so much more, I know that they are trying to make Christopher like Bobby, but it's not working for me.
