Choices



Knots Landing
Season 2 Episode 10
Airdate:  January 29, 1981
Recap:  Judy calls for Gary, she wants to know when they can meet, Gary isn’t giving her a definite answer, when Val walks in, he agrees to meet her for lunch so they can talk.  Val asks him what that was about, he tells her that it was work, she tells him that he is working too hard.
   Abby goes into Gary’s office and sees the paper work that shows that he managed to sell all the stolen parts, and with her help Sid will never find anything out.  Later on Judy walks into the dealership and Abby watches as they go into Gary’s office.  Gary tells her that it isn’t a good idea for them to meet where he works.  She asks him to skip the AA meeting he is supposed to go to with Earl that night, so they can spend sometime together.  He agrees to, and Abby walks into the office, she asks Gary if she can speak with him for a moment.  While she is waiting for him Richard comes and reminds her that she was going to go to lunch with him, but she tells him that she can’t, that something came up.  
   Linda asks Sid if she can put up a poster for a car race in the front window, he tells her that it’s fine, he says that he would like to go see it, and she asks him if he would go with her.  He tells her that he will think about it.
   Abby calls a restaurant and pretends to be Gary’s secretary and tires to make reservations, they tell her that Gary already made them, and she finds out what time Gary will be there.  After she hangs up she calls Val and asks her what she is doing for dinner.  After work Abby stops by Gary’s office and pretends that she doesn’t have a ride home, and Gary offers to take her home.  
   Linda asks Sid if he thought about the trip, he tells her that he needs to talk to Karen first.  She seems surprised about his.
   Abby tells Gary that she is sorry for walking in on him and Judy, he tells her that it isn’t what she thinks.
Richard stops Abby when she walks to her house, they arrange to meet later when she gets back from dinner with Val.
   Sid tells Karen about the race, and tells her that she and Michael would like it, she tells him that she doesn’t want to go, and doesn’t think that it would be good for Michael to spend so much time in the car, then to sit and watch the race, he wouldn’t be able to use up his energy.  He tells her that he didn’t think about it.  She tells him that she thinks that he should go, but he needs to tell her what he decides so she can make plans. 
   Laura asks Richard if he is going to eat dinner, he asks abut Jason, and she tells him that he is spending the night with a friend.  She tells him that they haven’t been alone for a long time, but he isn’t interested.  She tells him that she tired.  
   After dinner Abby suggests that they have a drink before going home.  Val tells her that Gary will be home, but Val tells her that she should let him wait on her for a change.
   Gary tells Judy that she needs to look at things from Earl’s point of view, but she tells him that she is tired of doing that, she asks him what side he is on.  She tells him that she doesn’t want to be an unfaithful wife anymore.  Gary asks her what keeping her from leaving Earl, she tells him that she doesn’t know what to expect from him, she tells him that she wants him.  Gary tells her that he can’t leave Val.  Judy asks him why he is her lover then.  Just then Abby and Val walk in, Abby and Val see them, Judy looks up and sees them too.  Val and Abby go over to the table, Judy tells Val that she called Gary to come and meet her, she tells her that she and Earl are going to get a divorce.  Val walks away, Gary follows her and Abby sits down with Judy.  Val gets into a cab just as Gary comes out.  Just asks her if it was a coincidence that they showed up, she tells her no.  Judy asks her what she got to gain from this, Abby tells her that she isn’t the subject of the conversation.  Abby tells her that she is the complete opposite of Val and that is what is interests Gary.  Judy tells her that Gary has outgrown Val, and that she will be the one to wreck the marriage, but she will be the one to get Gary.
   When Gary gets home, he finds Val on the sofa, he tells her that Earl and Judy had a fight, and that he took her to the restaurant to talk, he tells her that he thought she understood what he was doing.  She tells him that she does.  He tells her that he will drop them if that is what she wants, she tells him not to.  Gary tells her that he knows how it looks, but he loves her.
   Richard hears Abby get home, and goes over to her house, Laura gets up when she hears the door close, she sees Richard walking over to Abby’s.  He looks up and sees her watching.
   The next morning Abby goes to Gary’s office, she asks him how Val is doing.  She tells him that she would be worried of he was her husband, and that she is there if he needs her.
   Judy goes over to see Val, she tells her that she thinks that they need to talk, Val agrees and lets her in.  Judy tells her that she doesn’t know what to say once she is inside.  Val tells her that she wants Gary.  Judy tells her that she does too, she tells her that they have been seeing each other, and that they are lovers.  Judy tells her that she is going to leave Earl and she and Gary will be together.  Val tells her that she needs to leave.  Judy asks her what she and Gary have in common anymore.
   Linda asks Sid about the race again.  He tells her that he can’t go, and explains that he needs to spend time with Michael because the weekends are the only time he can give Karen a break from taking care of Michael, and he feels like he owes it to them to stay home.  He tells her that Karen said he should go, but he didn’t think it was right.  Shea ask him if he and Karen always talk like this.  She comments that they have a very modern relationship. 
   Gary and Val go over to Sid and Karen’s for dinner, it’s pretty quite, and Gary tries to make conversation, Val is picking at her food, when Karen offers to fix her something else, she gets upset.  The men start talking about work, and when Karen tires to bring Val into the conversation, Val excuses herself, Gary gets up and goes to her, and asks her what’s wrong, and she tells him that Judy came to see her today.  She leaves the house, and Gary apologizes, Sid tells him that he doesn’t need to apologize to them, he should go after Val.
Laura gets home, and asks about Jason, Richard tells her that he’s in bed, and tells her that he is going out.  She asks him if Abby is expecting him, and tells him to go ahead and go, she doesn’t care anymore.  She tells him that she thinks that they need to go see someone to help them with their marriage.  He tells her that he’s got someone to see, next door, and she doesn’t charge anything.
   Gary finds Val at the beach, he apologizes and she tells him that she believes him, he tells her that he doesn’t know how it happened, and tells her that it doesn’t have anything to do with them.  Val tells him not to lie to himself, she asks him where they went wrong, she goes through all the things that they went through.  Gary tells her that they are good, and that she is doing fine here.  He tells her that he is the one to blame, she tells him that she is what went wrong, he tells her that he loves her, and she smacks him.  He looks at her with surprise, she hugs him, and they walk back towards the car.  
   Judy goes into the dealership the next day and goes to Gary’s office.  After Abby leaves, she closes the door, he asks her why she did it.  She tells him that she felt that Earl and Val had the right to know, he asks her if she told Earl too, she tells him that she iddn’t.  She tells him that he lead her to believe that he loved her, he tells her that he won’t leave Val, because she reminds him of how far he has come.  She tells him that that is pathetic and walks out.  She tells Abby good lunch.  Abby walks in to his office and asks him if he is ready for her.
Final Thoughts:  I'm so glad that this plot is over, I did not like it at all, I don't think we need to have everyone in the cul de sac having an affair.
Best Outfit:  Gary's turtleneck is really tight, it might not be so bad if it was not flesh colored.

Collateral Damage



Dallas
Season 1 Episode 7
Airdate:  7/18/12
Recap:  Christopher is out riding, he stops to look at the tree with all the names carved into the trunk. 
John Ross gets the news that he can’t drill because the trust is binding.  Christopher walks in and gives him the DVD, he tells him that the trust is airtight and there is nothing he can do.  Christopher tells him that he will fight him, fairly, for Southfork and Elena.

Rebecca goes over to Elena’s and gives her a gift basket, thanking her for the other day.  She seems to be getting sick, when Elena asks her if she is okay she tells her that she is fine, but she starts to get sick, and Elena sends her to her bathroom.  Elena realizes what is wrong with Rebecca, she asks her how far along she is.  Rebecca tells her she is 9 weeks pregnant.  Elena wants to know if she knew before going to the hospital, Rebecca tells her that she didn’t know.  She asks if she told Christopher yet.  Rebecca tells her that he won’t answer her calls.  Elena tells her that he has to know.  

Ann is in the park, she looks at the locket in her hand and at the children playing.  Her phone rings, it’s Bobby he wants to know if she wants to go riding before dinner, she tells him that she is shopping and asks him if they can do it later, she tells him that she has to go because she is in line.  Bobby says he`ll see her at dinner and hang up she watches the kids play in the park.

John Ross is having lunch with Lucy.  He's telling her about the first time he tried bourbon she says that she knew when she found him that he was his mother's son.  He tells her that she is his favorite cousin, she asked him what he wants.  He tells  her that he wants her to talk to Uncle Gary, and tells her about the trust and that he needs Gary and JR to sign off so that he can drill.  John Ross tells her that there is about  200,000,000 barrels oil under Southfork,  he tells her that they will all benefit.  She says that he's not that little boy she found and that she’s sure that his dad's real proud of him.  John Ross says if there's anyone Gary listen to besides Bobby it’s her.  He says if she can get her to convince Gary to come down and sign off he will give her stake in Ewing Oil.

Christopher comes over to Elena while she is trying to work on her car.  She tells him not to say anything and he says he understands and knows she’s with John Ross, and she tell them that he needs to respect that.  Christopher says he does, that he should.  He says he owes her better apology for the things he said to her.  He tells her that the only reason why he cut her out of the menthal project, but she cuts him off and says they were getting too close and he needed to be there for a Rebecca.  He tells her he cares for her and that he should a fight harder for her and not ran off.  Christopher tells her that instead of running off like a teenager he should have followed her.   She tells Chris for that he needs to call Rebecca that she's been trying to get a hold of him, he asked her how she knows this Elena tells him that he really needs to call her and walks off.  He says why are you going on about this, that there are other ways to get me to leave.  Elena turns around and tells him that Rebecca is pregnant, she tells him that Rebecca should have been the one to tell him, Christopher walk away.   

A police car drives up to where Bobby is working with the ranch hands, he goes over and they tell him that he's under arrest for the assault of Harris Ryland.  

Bobby tells his lawyer that the only reason why Ryland is doing this is so he can get his hooks in on Ann.  The lawyer tells Bobby that there's a deal on the table, he asks what the deal is.  His lawyer tell him that all Harris wants is an apology.  Bobby says he won't do it, his lawyer tells him that that Ryland has his tentilcales around everyone and everything and can destroy everything for Bobby.  Bobby changes the subject and asks about what they found on JR.  He tells Bobby that they found nothing.  He tells him that JR has been very careful.  Bobby says if Marta and JR did business then there had to be at the nursing home.  His lawyer gives him some information he got on JR's private eye, Bum.

Christopher go see Rebecca, she guesses that Elena told him.  He asked her where his brother is, she tells him that he is gone, that she told him to leave.  Christopher thinks that this is just another ruse.  Rebecca tells him that she isn't lying.  He says that she's been lying to him for the past two years.  She tells him that she's having a baby and whether or not he's her husband he is the father.  Christopher tells her crazy and that he thinks that this is just another scheme of hers.  Rebecca tells that he can think whatever you want but she thinks that he would have been more adult about it, considering what his birth parents did to him.  Christopher walked out of the apartment.  

Christopher tells Ann and Bobby about Rebecca having a baby.  Ann asks him if he really thinks she’s lying about this, he says that she lied about everything else.  He tells them that they made an appointment at the doctor and they are going to get a paternity test.  Bobby asked if he really thinks that Rebecca would have been unfaithful, Christopher says he doesn't know, but that she's a liar.  Ann tells him that she's trying to do right by him and all that he's being is spiteful and cruel.   Ann apologizes after Christopher leaves and tells Bobby she doesn't know what's gotten into her lately.  He asked if it's about the flowers at Ryland send her she tells him not to go there.  Bobby tells her about the lawsuit he tells her that he went to Ryland’s office after she got the flowers.

John Ross tells Elena he doesn't know what he would do without her.   John Ross sees Marta walk out of the restaurant, he tells Elean that he needs to make a phone call and goes outside, he looked around but doesn't see her his phone rings, it's someone that works for Vicente.  They tell John Ross that he want to meet in an hour.  

 John Ross asks Vicente for a couple more days.  He tells John Ross not forget that he owns the lien to the ranch.  John Ross asks if he would be willing to make a trade for more time.  Vicente asks him what he wants to trade for.   John Ross tell him for information, he tells him that Marta skimmed money from the sale that she lied about the purchase price and pocketed the difference and that she has been a pain in his back side, he tells Vicente to get his guys and spook her, and to chase her out of town and far away from him.  Vicente tells him that he has one more week.  

Bobby tell John Ross that Lucy never was in on the deal, that she and Gary are with him.  John Ross tells Bobby that he owes JR's investors and that if he doesn't pay them all hell will break loose.  Bobby says that JR is just dragging him down.  John Ross says he can't let his father hang out to dry, John Ross tells Bobby he has to let him drill.

Sue Ellen tells John Ross that he should have gone to her and she would have talked to Gary, he says that would have done no good.  She asks if he heard from JR.  John Ross tells her that he has no idea where he is or how to get in touch with him, and that's how JR wants it.  She tells him that he owes people oil but it doesn't have to be Southfork oil.  She asks about Elena's fields, he says that he won't drag her into this mess.  John Ross says that Elena's the one good thing in his life and wants to keep it that way.  

JR tells Bum that if John Ross can't figure out a way to get past the trust then Sue Ellen will.  Bum tells JR about what he learned about Frank.  JR tells him, a cheated man is a dangerous man.

The doctor tells Rebecca and Christopher that the result will be ready later this afternoon.  He tells Rebecca about the day that they met and how he felt, he tells her that he fell in love with a lie.  Rebecca tells him that she is sorry for what she said about his birth parents, she tells him that she knows he would never abandon anyone. 

Over lunch Elena asks Sue Ellen why John Ross doesn't ask her himself.  She says because he's a man that he is a Ewing.  She tells Elena that she would only be tieding him over until he can start drilling on Southfork.  Elena says that John Ross knows that she does not want any part of drilling on Southfork, Elena tell her that she cares about John Ross but she also cares about Bobby and Christopher.  Sue Ellen tells her that being the soul investor in her company she hope she makes the wise choice.   Marta watches Elena from across the restaurant.  

John Ross answers his phone thinking it Elena, only to find out its Marta she tells him that he better meet her at a hotel room and that he better not call the police if he does show hurt her.  John Ross walks into the hotel room call bout to Elena.  He pulls back the blinds and Marta is standing behind him she tells him that she’s been followed all day.  He asked her where Elena is, she tells them that she knows he sold her out.  John Ross goes about the hotel room looking for Elena, Marta tells him that he needs to help her.  John Ross says that if Elena is hurt in any way he will end her.  She tells him if he cares about Elena safety he`ll help.

Christopher goes to Elena and tell her that he still wants to be with her.  He says doesn't matter what the paternity  results says and he knows that part of her still wants to be with him too.  Elena tells him she can't get between him and his child.  He tells her that they can make things work.  She tells him that she wanted make things work with John Ross and that they are happy, she asked Christopher to stop.

Bobby goes to see Ryland and apologizes.  Ryland calls his attorney and tells him to drop the charges.  Bobby says his apology doesn't take back what he did.  Ryland give Bobby an envelope he tells him that Ann is holding something back, and he knows that Bobby wants to know what it is.  Ryland tells him that there is a lot about her that he doesn't know.

Marta tell him that her bank accounts are frozen, John Ross asks her how much she wants.  She tells him that she doesn't want money, she tells him that he needs to help her get out of this mess that he caused.  John Ross tells her that he's only here to find Elena, and wants to know where she is, he realizes she doesn't have her, that she stole Elena’s phone.  John Ross asks her if she's filming this and asks what is wrong with her.  Marta tells him that she earned everything she had and that she thought they have that in common.  He grabbed her purse and they struggle, she scratches his neck and he pushes her to the ground he takes Elena's phone and leave the room he turned the corner just missing two men who walk into Marta’s room.

Bobby gets home and find Christopher and Ann arguing, she tells him that Rebecca never lied to him about her love for him, only about something from her past, something that she was ashamed of.  She tells him that if she hadn't told him the truth they would still be happy and the news of the baby would be news of joy.  Ann says he can still have that life.  Bobby put the envelope aside and walks in, Christopher’s phone rings, it’s the doctor, they tell him that they won’t give him the paternity test results over phone Bobby says I'll go with him.  

 John Ross walked out of the hotel and notices that Marta has fallen out her window.  He passes to people who he met at the elevator when he went up to her room he gets into his car and drive away quickly. 

The doctor tells Christopher that he is the father, he asked why she couldn't tell him over the phone.  The doctor tells him that Rebecca was treated for nosebleeds and fatigue, at that time they didn’t know she was pregnant, doctors didn't know until they detected the HCG hormone.  Today they found multiple heartbeats. Rebecca is getting an ultrasound when Christopher comes in, she calls him to her side, and he takes her hand as they watch the screen.  He looks over at Bobby and Ann as tears fill his eyes.

At home, Bobby tells Ann that the charges were dropped.  She telsl him that she is sorry he had to go through with that.  He tells her that Ryland gave him an envelope that would tell himi everything he didn’t know about her.  He tells her that he wishes that she would tell him what is making her so upset, but that he doesn’t need to open the envelope, he says that he knows that she will work it out, but if she does need him he is there for her.  He throws the envelope into the fire, Ann gets up and hugs Bobby.  We can see a photo of Ann with a baby in the fire as the envelope and it’s contents burn.
Elena comes out and asks John Ross where he was, she tells him that Sue Ellen talked to her, and that she watns to help him.  Police cars pull up, Bobby comes out and tells them that everything has been settled with Ryland, they tell him that they are hear for his nephew, they tell John Ross that there are witnesses seeing a car of this description and of his fleeing a crime scene.  Elena asks what it is all about.  They tell them about the murder of Veronica Martinez, or as they would have known her, Marta Del Sol.  They tell John Ross that they need to ask him a few questions.  Elena, Ann and Bobby watch as he gets into the car with the police.
Final Thoughts:  Marta's death reminds me of how Julie was killed, except that there are a lot of people around.

Bottom of the bottle part 2


Knots Landing
Season 1 Episode 13
Air Date: March 27, 1980
Recap:  Sid is at the liquor store Gary was at in the last episode, the man tells him that Gary is different from the other drunks who come into the store, because of how he thought of taking the drink even though the gun was pulled on him.
   Richard finds Gary at a bar, he tries to get him to leave, Gary threatens to hit him, but Richard tells him that he will press charges, which causes Gary to clam down.  Richard wants him to leave with him, but Gary gets him to get him one more drink.
   Ginger is looking for Kenny at one of his work parties, none of the other guests have seen him.  He is off dancing with Sylvie, he tells her that Ginger is there so they need to cool it, when Ginger finds them she tells Kenny that she wants to go home, he tells her that they just got there, she reminds him that they have been there for 3 hours and that she has work in the morning.  He tells her that he can’t go since this is a work thing.   Ginger says that she is going and ask if he is going with her, he stays at the party.
   Richard is drunk now, and talking about his work.  When he passes out, Gary takes his car keys from his pocket and some money from his wallet, that he left on the bar which seems to be a stupid place to put it if you ask me.  Gary gets up and leaves the bar, the bartender calls after him asking about Richard but Gary doesn’t listen.  Gary gets into Richard’s car and drives away as the bartender carries Richard out and puts him on the sidewalk.  Gary comes back and gets Richard into the car and takes him home.  Laura wakes up finding Gary putting Richard on the sofa, and then trying to get into the liquor cabinet.  Laura calls Val, he goes over and hangs up on her, and tells her to open the cabinet.  She tells him that he had the keys, but he can’t remember what he did with the car keys.  Val arrives and they try to stop him from opening up the liquor cabinet, in the struggle Gary hits Val, and smashes the cabinet open, his hand is bleeding pretty bad.
   Kenny finally gets home, getting a ride from Sylvie.  Ginger asks him how he got home, he tells her it was a guy, and that the party just ended.  She tells him that she called and knows that the party ended at 2.  He tells her that he loves her, she tells him to prove it.  Before they can say or do anything they hear the ambulance coming down the street.  They rush out of the house to see what is going on, they see them putting Gary into the ambulance.  The paramedics tells Sid that Gary needs to commit himself.  Laura tells them that Gary tried to kill himself after getting the drink, they ask Val if that is what happened and she tells them that it is.
   Gary wakes up in the hospital, he gets up and tries to get out of the room, but it’s locked.  Val hears him yelling to be let out.  The doctor tells her that it would be best if she went in before Val.  The doctor introduces herself to Gary and tells him that he can see Val as soon as he calms down.  Val comes into the room and he hugs her.  He asks her what happened to her eye, she doesn’t tell him, but he realizes that it was him and he tells her how sorry he is.  Gary tells her that he doesn’t need a doctor, he just needs her, but she tells him that he can’t go home yet.  He starts to get agitated and has to be restrained. 
   Ginger is over at Laura and Richard’s for dinner, she is asking Laura what to do about Kenny.  Laura tells her that she needs to meet Kenny half way, he moved out her and got the house, now it’s her turn to bend a little. 
   At the studio they are recording a song.   She isn’t doing well, and stops Kenny asks her what’s wrong.  She says that she is upset about him, she asks him if they can work one on one for awhile before she sings with the band.  Kenny agrees and sends the band home for the day. 
   Val is on the phone with the doctor when Karen comes over.  She asks how Gary is doing, and tells Val that putting Gary into the hospital was the right thing to do.  She invites Val to go over with her to Laura and Richard’s for dinner, but Val doesn’t want to go. Karen tells her to get some sleep.
   Kenny and Sylvie are getting pretty comfortable on the couch, when Ginger walks in on them.  Kenny rushes after her.  At their house, Ginger is throwing all of his stereo equipment to the ground.  Kenny tries to apologize but Ginger yells at him to leave.
   Gary is with the doctor, Val is watching the session from another room.  He annoyed that the doctor always answers his questions with a question of her own.  She tells him that he is an alcoholic and that he gets violent when he drinks.  He tells her that he can stop anytime he wants, he asks to call Val.  She tells him to prove it, and offers him a bottle of liquor or a dime to call Val.  He looks at both then grabs the bottle, he cries out when he finds out that it was only tea.  Val is in shock seeing that he chose the drink over her.
   Ginger is at the zoo with her class.  Kenny comes over and tells the kids that he came to kiss and make up with Ginger since they had a fight.  She sends them off to another teacher.  He tells her that she was right, and that he wants to start over.  She tells him that she needs to be alone, he wants to know for how long.
   At the hospital Gary is playing pool with another patient, who is telling Gary about how AA helped him so much.  Sid comes over and tells him that Val sent him over in her place.  Sid tells him that he can’t ignore his problem, and that he’s got to control it or he can’t be the vice president of the dealership.  He is on his way out, when Gary tells him that he is going to his first AA meeting.  Sid gets really excited by this and tells him how great it is to hear this.
   Kenny goes to Slyvie’s and asks if he can stay for the night.
   They are having a party for the guy that Gary was playing pool with earlier since it’s his last night at the hospital.  Gary leaves without anyone noticing, and goes to the guys room, he opens his suitcase and puts on his jacket and ties his pants around his waist, he puts on his robe again and shoves the shoes into the robe and hurries out of the room.  He goes to the nurses station and looks for the key for the door and takes some money.
   Sid goes to Val and tells her about Gary, she is surprised by what he tells her since the doctor has told her that Gary made it clear he wasn’t ready to go to meetings.  She thanks him for giving her the news.
   Later on Gary gets out of the cab and knocks at the door.  Val opens the door and he hugs her.  She asks him how he got home, but he doesn’t say, the phone rings and he asks her not to answer it, she realizes that he ran away from the hospital.  She yells at him, telling him that they need help for what is going on and that she saw him choose the drink over her.  She tells him he will always find an excuse not to go to the AA meetings.  Val tells Gary that she can’t live with out knowing when he will drink again.  Gary takes her car keys and runs over all the garbage cans.  Sid and Karen rush over ash she is picking them up.  Sid tells her that he will go after him, but she tells him no, and says that she is going to go to that AA meeting.
   At a bar Gary has a drink and a dime in front of him.  He gets up and goes to the pay phone and calls home, when he gets no answer he goes back to the bar and sits back down. 
   At the meeting a lady is talking about when she knew that she was about to drink again, and how she called her sponsor.  The meeting is about to break up, when Gary walks in and introduces himself.  Everyone including Val gives him a round of applause.
Final Thoughts:  I like that they finished up the storyline and didn't leave us with a cliffhanger till the next season, I don't know if they did that then or not.  I hope that Ginger gets rid of Kenny soon.  
Best Outfit:  Kenny looks like he borrowed one of Tom Selleck's shirts from Magnum P.I.
