Season 4 Episode 4

*I watched this episode on the 30^th anniversary of the day it aired

Recap:  Sue Ellen’s mug shot is taken and her fingerprints taken.  A police officer asks her if she has anything to say before her lawyer gets there.  She says that she is sure that she didn’t shoot JR.  He asks her if she is changing her story.  He lawyer gets there and the officer leaves, he tells her that he doesn’t want her to say anything even to him.  He tells her that he will be there in the morning and he tells her that he can’t get her out tonight.  She is put into a cell.

   Cliff is sitting down to breakfast at the café, when he sees the newspaper headline, he gets up and leaves.

Lucy says that it doesn’t seem like Sue Ellen, and JR says that she could have tried it anytime.  Jock tells them that he is refusing to pay for Sue Ellen’s bail; JR wants to know how the lawyer got involved. Bobby tells them that he called him and will pay the bail himself.  Miss Ellie says that it’s too dangerous.  

   Sue Ellen’s lawyer tells her that he will talk to Bobby to get the family to change their minds, he asks her to think of someone who can pay for her bail, she tells him that she doesn’t have anyone.  Cliff comes to see her and she asks him if he came to gloat, he asks her now she is doing.  He tells her that he is on a vacation.  He tells her that he wants to help her.  He asks her what happened, she tells him that she doesn’t remember, she tells him that she had been drinking, she tells him that the Ewing’s won’t pay for her bail he promises to get her out.

   Bobby is talking about buying a refinery, Franklin comes and he asks if he got the approval, he tells Bobby that the Loan Committee sees some problems.  He tells Bobby that he is sorry.

   Sue Ellen’s bail has been paid and she is released.

   Lucy finds Mitch at school she tells him she is sorry for the way she acted, she gives him the books that he wanted, he tells her that he wanted to buy them for himself.  She tells him that she wanted to get them for him.

   Cliff gets a phone call from his work, they tell him that he can come back; he tells them that he will get back to them.  Sue Ellen knocks at his door, she thanks him for getting her out, he tells her that he didn’t do it.  He asks her if she is ok, she tells him that she is fine, but starts to cry.  He tells her to stay, but she says that it will only complicate things, he tells her to stay for awhile, while he is at his appointment.  Cliff meets with Dave Culver, he tells Cliff that they will talk again soon, when Donna comes over and reminds him that they have a plane to catch. 

   Bobby gets home, and JR asks him if he put up the money to get Sue Ellen out of jail.  Miss Ellie says that she is glad that she is out, but that he needs to be more careful.

   When Cliff gets home he finds that Sue Ellen gone and a note.

   Kristin answers the door, Sue Ellen tells her that she has been wandering around for hours, she asks if she can stay with her.

   Sue Ellen stops Bobby outside Ewing Oil, she asks him for his help, she tells him that she needs to see her baby.  She tells him that he’s is all she has to hold on to.  He tells her that he will do what he can.

   Cliff and Donna meet up, she tells him to stay away from her step-son.  He tells her that he can help him become governor.  He tells her that he can get him votes that he couldn’t get on his own.  He suggests that they talk it over a drink.

   Sue Ellen tells Dr. Elby that being in jail was like her nightmare, she tells him that she must have done it since her fingerprints were found on the gun.  He suggests that she go under hypnosis to help her remember what happened that night.

   The doctor’s tells JR that he is doing really well and will be walking before he knows it.  He meets Sue Ellen’s lawyer for lunch, he asks where Sue Ellen is, but he won’t tell him.  JR already knows she is staying with Kristin.  The lawyer tells JR that whatever Sue Ellen said to his is privileged.  JR tells him that the family can always get another lawyer.  He agrees to find another lawyer for Sue Ellen, that doesn’t owe JR a damn thing.

   Bobby tells everyone that he saw Sue Ellen and that she wants to see the baby.  Jock says that it’s too big of a risk, and JR says no.  Bobby tells them that she is lost and lonely; Miss Ellie tells them that she and Pam will take the baby to see her.

   Bobby tells Franklin that he has to pass on the refinery for now, since he knows he is looking for a buyer right away, but if he can wait for some kind of payment plan then he will be in touch.

   Sue Ellen thanks Miss Ellie and Pam for bring the baby to see her.  Miss Ellie asks her how she is doing, she tells her that she doesn’t know what she would do if it wasn’t for Kristin.  She tells her that she is sorry for what happened.  Pam asks her if she can remember anything.  Sue Ellen tells her that she can’t remember anything after she went to the bar.  Miss Ellie tells her that she keeps hoping for a miracle.

   Dr. Elby puts Sue Ellen under hypnosis, and he makes her tell him what happened the afternoon JR was shot.  She tells him that she put the gun in her purse and went to her appointment to see him.  She says that after that she went to the bar, she can’t remember how many she had, then she called JR but he wasn’t at his office.  So she went to Kristin’s condo, she gave her a drink and she thought that if only Dusty were alive none of this would have happened.  She tells him that she told Kristin that she was going to kill JR because he was going to put her in that institution again.  She tells him that she left the condo and had more to drink and can’t remember anything else.  Dr. Elby tries to get her to remember more, but she says she can’t.  He brings her out, and she asks him why she can’t remember, he tells her that he doesn’t know, either she just doesn’t want to remember or she just drank too much and blacked out (she knows she blacked out, that’s why she is coming to you to help her).  He asks her about when she woke up at the airport.  She tells him that she had a headache and when she got home she was surprised that no one was home except the servants, then Kristin coming and reminding her about coming to the condo.  He asks her when she put the gun in the closet.  She tells him that she didn’t have the gun anymore; she tells him that after she changed she changed purses and she would have remembered that.

   Sue Ellen goes back to Southfork, JR is alone outside, and she asks him where Kristin is.  JR tells her to get away from him, and that he will call the police if she comes any closer, as he tries to get up.  Kristin comes out and asks what is going on.  Sue Ellen tells her that she knows she was trying to frame her, she tells her that she knew she would put the gun down when she offered her that drink.  Kristin admits to taking the gun and shooting JR and that the next morning she went to the house and put the gun in the closet while Sue Ellen was in the shower.  JR is about to call the police, but Kristin stops him tell him that he wouldn’t want his son born in prison.  Sue Ellen tells JR that she is not going to jail for her.  JR tells Sue Ellen that he will take care of Kristin in his own way. 
Final Thoughts:  I feel kind of let down by the ending, only because it wasn’t a big reveal in front of everyone, but I liked it.  I kind of suspected Kristin more once Jock and Miss Ellie found the gun, it had to be someone with access to the house.  When I realized that the 30^th anniversary of this episode was on Wednesday I couldn’t believe how lucky I got to be able to watch it on the exact date, if I hadn’t stopped watching the shows since the move to the new house then I wouldn’t have gotten to do it.

On Saturday afternoon I was on IMDB looking something up about the Doctor Who episode we were watching, when I saw the news about Larry Hagman’s death.  I was shocked and honestly a little sad to hear the news, especially when I read what Patrick Duffy had to say about him.  I read that he and Linda Gray were both by his side.  It is amazing how close they were, I don’t think it is that common with many actors on TV shows.  I’m so glad that they got to reunite for the new series one last time, and that the original show is still available for us all to enjoy.
Best Outfit:  It's the suspenders again, this wouldn't be as bad, if it wasn't for the pattern on the shirt with the patterned suspenders.

Season 2 Episode 10

Airdate:  January 29, 1981

Recap:  Judy calls for Gary, she wants to know when they can meet, Gary isn’t giving her a definite answer, when Val walks in, he agrees to meet her for lunch so they can talk.  Val asks him what that was about, he tells her that it was work, she tells him that he is working too hard.

   Abby goes into Gary’s office and sees the paper work that shows that he managed to sell all the stolen parts, and with her help Sid will never find anything out.  Later on Judy walks into the dealership and Abby watches as they go into Gary’s office.  Gary tells her that it isn’t a good idea for them to meet where he works.  She asks him to skip the AA meeting he is supposed to go to with Earl that night, so they can spend sometime together.  He agrees to, and Abby walks into the office, she asks Gary if she can speak with him for a moment.  While she is waiting for him Richard comes and reminds her that she was going to go to lunch with him, but she tells him that she can’t, that something came up.  

   Linda asks Sid if she can put up a poster for a car race in the front window, he tells her that it’s fine, he says that he would like to go see it, and she asks him if he would go with her.  He tells her that he will think about it.

   Abby calls a restaurant and pretends to be Gary’s secretary and tires to make reservations, they tell her that Gary already made them, and she finds out what time Gary will be there.  After she hangs up she calls Val and asks her what she is doing for dinner.  After work Abby stops by Gary’s office and pretends that she doesn’t have a ride home, and Gary offers to take her home.  

   Linda asks Sid if he thought about the trip, he tells her that he needs to talk to Karen first.  She seems surprised about his.

   Abby tells Gary that she is sorry for walking in on him and Judy, he tells her that it isn’t what she thinks.

Richard stops Abby when she walks to her house, they arrange to meet later when she gets back from dinner with Val.

   Sid tells Karen about the race, and tells her that she and Michael would like it, she tells him that she doesn’t want to go, and doesn’t think that it would be good for Michael to spend so much time in the car, then to sit and watch the race, he wouldn’t be able to use up his energy.  He tells her that he didn’t think about it.  She tells him that she thinks that he should go, but he needs to tell her what he decides so she can make plans. 

   Laura asks Richard if he is going to eat dinner, he asks abut Jason, and she tells him that he is spending the night with a friend.  She tells him that they haven’t been alone for a long time, but he isn’t interested.  She tells him that she tired.  

   After dinner Abby suggests that they have a drink before going home.  Val tells her that Gary will be home, but Val tells her that she should let him wait on her for a change.

   Gary tells Judy that she needs to look at things from Earl’s point of view, but she tells him that she is tired of doing that, she asks him what side he is on.  She tells him that she doesn’t want to be an unfaithful wife anymore.  Gary asks her what keeping her from leaving Earl, she tells him that she doesn’t know what to expect from him, she tells him that she wants him.  Gary tells her that he can’t leave Val.  Judy asks him why he is her lover then.  Just then Abby and Val walk in, Abby and Val see them, Judy looks up and sees them too.  Val and Abby go over to the table, Judy tells Val that she called Gary to come and meet her, she tells her that she and Earl are going to get a divorce.  Val walks away, Gary follows her and Abby sits down with Judy.  Val gets into a cab just as Gary comes out.  Just asks her if it was a coincidence that they showed up, she tells her no.  Judy asks her what she got to gain from this, Abby tells her that she isn’t the subject of the conversation.  Abby tells her that she is the complete opposite of Val and that is what is interests Gary.  Judy tells her that Gary has outgrown Val, and that she will be the one to wreck the marriage, but she will be the one to get Gary.

   When Gary gets home, he finds Val on the sofa, he tells her that Earl and Judy had a fight, and that he took her to the restaurant to talk, he tells her that he thought she understood what he was doing.  She tells him that she does.  He tells her that he will drop them if that is what she wants, she tells him not to.  Gary tells her that he knows how it looks, but he loves her.

   Richard hears Abby get home, and goes over to her house, Laura gets up when she hears the door close, she sees Richard walking over to Abby’s.  He looks up and sees her watching.

   The next morning Abby goes to Gary’s office, she asks him how Val is doing.  She tells him that she would be worried of he was her husband, and that she is there if he needs her.

   Judy goes over to see Val, she tells her that she thinks that they need to talk, Val agrees and lets her in.  Judy tells her that she doesn’t know what to say once she is inside.  Val tells her that she wants Gary.  Judy tells her that she does too, she tells her that they have been seeing each other, and that they are lovers.  Judy tells her that she is going to leave Earl and she and Gary will be together.  Val tells her that she needs to leave.  Judy asks her what she and Gary have in common anymore.

   Linda asks Sid about the race again.  He tells her that he can’t go, and explains that he needs to spend time with Michael because the weekends are the only time he can give Karen a break from taking care of Michael, and he feels like he owes it to them to stay home.  He tells her that Karen said he should go, but he didn’t think it was right.  Shea ask him if he and Karen always talk like this.  She comments that they have a very modern relationship. 

   Gary and Val go over to Sid and Karen’s for dinner, it’s pretty quite, and Gary tries to make conversation, Val is picking at her food, when Karen offers to fix her something else, she gets upset.  The men start talking about work, and when Karen tires to bring Val into the conversation, Val excuses herself, Gary gets up and goes to her, and asks her what’s wrong, and she tells him that Judy came to see her today.  She leaves the house, and Gary apologizes, Sid tells him that he doesn’t need to apologize to them, he should go after Val.

Laura gets home, and asks about Jason, Richard tells her that he’s in bed, and tells her that he is going out.  She asks him if Abby is expecting him, and tells him to go ahead and go, she doesn’t care anymore.  She tells him that she thinks that they need to go see someone to help them with their marriage.  He tells her that he’s got someone to see, next door, and she doesn’t charge anything.

   Gary finds Val at the beach, he apologizes and she tells him that she believes him, he tells her that he doesn’t know how it happened, and tells her that it doesn’t have anything to do with them.  Val tells him not to lie to himself, she asks him where they went wrong, she goes through all the things that they went through.  Gary tells her that they are good, and that she is doing fine here.  He tells her that he is the one to blame, she tells him that she is what went wrong, he tells her that he loves her, and she smacks him.  He looks at her with surprise, she hugs him, and they walk back towards the car.  

   Judy goes into the dealership the next day and goes to Gary’s office.  After Abby leaves, she closes the door, he asks her why she did it.  She tells him that she felt that Earl and Val had the right to know, he asks her if she told Earl too, she tells him that she iddn’t.  She tells him that he lead her to believe that he loved her, he tells her that he won’t leave Val, because she reminds him of how far he has come.  She tells him that that is pathetic and walks out.  She tells Abby good lunch.  Abby walks in to his office and asks him if he is ready for her.

Final Thoughts:  I'm so glad that this plot is over, I did not like it at all, I don't think we need to have everyone in the cul de sac having an affair.
Best Outfit:  Gary's turtleneck is really tight, it might not be so bad if it was not flesh colored.

Hitchhike Part Two

Knots Landing

Season 2 Episode 2

Original Airdate:  November 27, 1980

Recap:  Karen asks Richard to get a criminal lawyer’s help, he tells her that he talked to the prosecuting attorney about making a deal.  She gets upset and Sid steps in and tells Richard that if they don’t stop her she will do this to someone else.  Sid tells Richard that he is going to fight all the charges.  Diana comes down and asks why he doesn’t just follow Richard’s advice, he tells her that they need to prove that what Pamela said isn’t true.  

   Laura suggests that Richard should get some help with the case, but he tells her that he can’t since he already turned down the help his firm offered him.  He tells her that he can win this on his own, then he won’t be invisible at the office anymore.

   Diana goes to the bands practice, and finds out that they replaced her. 

   Karen tells Sid that Richard is selling him out, and that he really needs to get another lawyer.  Diana comes home and yells at her parents.  Sid follows her up to her room and tells her that he needs her support.  She tells him that this is ruining her life.  She tells him that she doesn’t understand why it happened.  Sid tells her that he saw a girl, just like her that needed help.  He tells her that he could do it again, but he doesn’t think he is so sure.  He tells her that he wants her to stand up with and for her family.

   At the dealership Gary is arguing with a customer about Sid being innocent until proven guilty.  Gary tells him he’s got a future thanks to him and that he is going to help him get through all this.

   Karen goes to Pamela’s apartment, Pamela is trying on clothes to wear at the trial, her mother tells her the dress isn’t right, she tells her that they are going to win the trial and take everything Sid has.  Karen knocks at the door and tells her that she just wants to talk.  Karen says that she wants to tell them about Sid and then tells Pamela about Diana.  Karen asks Pamela’s mother if she believes her, and she tells her yes.  Karen rushes out of the apartment, Pamela’s mother follows her, and Karen tells her she knows that her daughter is lying.  She tells her that she saw the doubt in her eyes.  She tells Karen that if Sid is innocent why he sent his lawyer to buy them off.  Karen goes to her car and is about to pull away, when a van starts to back into the stop in front of her.

   When Sid comes home, Karen tells him that Richard bribed the girl.  Sid rushes over to Richard’s house, and tells him that he’s fired. 

   Richard’s boss calls him into his office, he tells him that he thinks it would be best if he got some help on the case, Richard has to tell him that he isn’t representing Sid anymore, he lies and tells him that it was to keep their friendship.  He tells him that Sid hired Stan Lesser.

   Stan goes over to Sid and Karen’s; he has Sid go over what happened so they can look for inconsistencies in her story.  They he wants to go to the stop he picked her up.

   Abby stops by the dealership to see Sid, she talks to Gary, she tells him that Val is watching her kids for her.  She is really flirty with him.  They see Sid yelling at a guy about his car.

   Laura comes home and finds Richard cooking dinner, drunk.  He tells her that Sid fired him.  He asks him what he did.  Richard goes outside yelling for Sid to come out and talk to him.  Gary tries to get Sid to go home, but Sid stops him, Richard tells him that no one cares if he is innocent, he tells him that no one wins a rape case.  Sid grabs Richard, and pushes him away.  Richard starts yelling guilty, and Laura takes him home.

   Val and Abby take the kids to the beach for a picnic, Val tells Abby that is would be nice if she moved to Knots Landing.

   Stan is driving with Sid and Karen, they stop at the spot that Sid picked Pamela up at.  He says that the best thing they could hope for would be if she recanted her testimony.  He asks about the van that Sid saw, he says that he remembers that it followed them for awhile, and that he is sure he saw it again after he was arrested.  Karen remembers that when Pamela was yelling at them at the station she mentioned the van, but she never mentioned it to the DA or the police.  Stan is sure that this is a scam, and that the guy in the van is involved somehow.

   Sid and Abby are talking over dinner; he tells her that he can remember everything about the van, except for the license plate number.  Later when they are in bed, Karen asks Sid what the van looked like, when he describes it she tells him that she saw it when she went over to Pamela’s. 

   Stan and Sid go to the police station to run the plates, they find who they are looking for, he driver’s name is Rodney Williams, he was arrested for burglary, they also find out that he wasn’t alone when he was arrested.

   Karen and Abby drive over to Pamela’s apartment and take pictures of the van.  They go to the police station, and while Karen is talking to Lieutenant Spatz, Abby is flirting with one of the officers that arrested Sid; she is also trying to get information from him.

   Everyone meets at the DA’s office, and Pamela tells him that she is sticking to her story.  He tells her that with the new evidence that was just discovered that her story doesn’t hold up.  He calls for Rodney, and the DA asks him if he knows Pamela and if she was with him that night.  Rodney says yes.  The DA asks him to tell everyone what he and Pamela do to get money.  Pamela says that he is lying.  Rodney then describes what they do, and it’s exactly what happened to Sid that night.  Pamela’s mother says that they paid Rodney to say these things, but the DA tells her that they never talked to him.  She tells Pamela to tell them that they aren’t lying, but Pamela breaks down.  Stan comes out of the DA’s office, he tells Sid and Karen that it’s over.  They look back once at Pamela and her mother, then turn away.

   Laura comes out and tells Abby that she can rent the house.  Sid and Karen get home the same time as Richard, Sid tries to talk to him, but Richard walks away.  Val and Abby’s kids tell Sid and Karen the news about them moving into the neighborhood.

Final Thoughts:  Now I’m sure that that girl and her mother would be sued for slander.  Hopefully the DA makes her release a public statement, but I’m sure that this won’t happen, and Sid will have to rebuild his reputation.  Richard is a douche bag, he should never have been hired in the first place, he’s an idiot not to realize that he screwed Sid over when he went to Pamela and tried to bribe her.

Best Outfit:  I don't really get why you would want to wear the same color like this.  I saw a lady out yesterday wearing this ugly mustard yellow pants with a slightly different yellow shirt under a gray sweater.  Compared to this that was worse.

The Lost Child

Season 2 Episode 7

Air Date:  November 2, 1979

Recap:  Ray and Bobby pick out a few to help them with the ranch, Bobby picks a man and his young son to help.

   JR follows Sue Ellen to her car and asks her what she does all day, she asks him why he wants to know, she doesn’t pry into his business.

   Bobby joins the family just as Pam  is leaving for work, he tells her about the boy who’s name is Luke.

   JR gees into the office, Kristin asks him if he going to come over after work, he tells her that he can’t today, then asks her to call his private investigator for him, when she asks him why he want to talk to him, he won’t tell her.  JR tells the investigator that he wants him to follow Sue Ellen.

   Sue Ellen is seeing a therapist, she tells him that she’s been so unhappy, and she doesn’t’ want to be that way anymore, she tells him that she wants to be a good mother, and not to depend on others anymore.

   Pam and Cliff are walking in the park, he tells her about the talk of him running for congress, she asks if he’s considering it.  She tells him that she still hasn’t said anything to Bobby about the disease.  When she gets home she finds Bobby playing with Luke.

   Bobby and Luke have lunch together and talk, he tells Bobby that his father wants to move to Montana, but he likes Texas.  Ray comes over and tells Bobby that Luke’s father was bitten by a rattlesnake..  They race over to him, and Bobby promises him that he will take care of Luke until he is better.

   Sue Ellen runs into Kristin and JR, who are coming back from lunch.  Kristin asks if he thinks Sue Ellen knows about them, he asks her if she cares if she knows.

   The private investigator calls JR and tells her that he followed Sue Ellen and he doesn’t know anything yet.

   Jock is talking to the doctor’s about Luke’s father, he toll him that he will pay for all the hospital bills.  JR gets home, and Jock asks if he set up the trust fund yet.  JR tells him that he hasn’t’ had a chance yet.  He asks if his father told him mother about Amanda yet.  Jock tells him that he will, and that he needs to set up the trust fund tomorrow or he’ll come down and do it himself.

   Ray tells Bobby that Luke’s father needs rest, and that they will need to hire someone else, Luke tells them that he can do it.

   JR tries to get Sue Ellen what she is doing in town, she won’t tell him anything.

   Bobby tells Luke to clean up so he can have dinner at the house, but Luke tells him that he has to eat with the other ranch hands.  Bobby asks him if he would like to go to the movies, Like agrees.

   When they get back Pam and Bobby talk about Luke, he tells her that he really care about Luke, but he will love there baby more.  She asks him what if they couldn’t have a baby.  He tells her to stop worrying.     In the morning she wakes up and finds Bobby gone.  When she goes outside Jock and Miss Ellie tells her that he went riding with Luke, she tells them that she’s going to go for a ride too.

   Bobby and Luke see Pam riding toward them.  A rattlesnake strikes at her horse causing her to be thrown from her horse.

   At the hospital, Pam asks Bobby about the baby, he tells her not to worry and just sleep.  The doctor comes in and asks him to leave.  He tells him that they will call him as soon as she wakes up.  He tells Bobby that losing a child is hard, but that they are both young.

   JR gets a call from the investigator who tells him that Sue Ellen is seeing a therapist. 

   Bobby asks Luke how is father is doing, Luke asks him if Pam is going to die.  Bobby tells him she isn’t but that their baby died.  Luke tells him that his mother died because he was born.  Bobby tells him it wasn’t his fault.

   JR gets home and confronts Sue Ellen about her seeing a therapist.  She tells him that she is trying to get her life together, and she needs to figure out what happened to make everything such a mess.  He calls her a tramp.  She asks him what he is more worried about that she will sleep with her therapist or that she might say something that he doesn’t want her to talk about.

   Bobby goes to visit Pam, he tells her that as much as he wanted the baby, he wants her safe and happy.     She tells him that there can’t be anymore children, he tells her that she she will change her mind, she tells him that she won’t and then tells him about the disease.  She tells him that she wanted to tell him before, but couldn’t.  He asks about Baby John, she tells him that they won’t know anything for a couple months.  She tells him how sorry she is.

   Digger and Cliff go to visit Pam, she promises to call them when gets home.  Cliff and Digger go sit outside, Digger tells him that he really wanted to be a grandfather, Cliff tells him that Bobby and Pam will adopt, he says that isnt’ the same thing.  Cliff then confesses to his father about his affair with Sue Ellen and that he is the father of Sue Ellen’s baby.  And he promises to get the baby back into his life.

   When Bobby gets home he tells his parents that the doctor said Pam is fine, but it’s too soon to tell if they can have more children.

   The next day Luke tells Bobby that they are going to go to Montana, but he doesn’t want to go since he will never see him again.  Bobby promises him that they will see each other again.

   Cliff tells Bobby his sorry and that he knows how he feels, since he can’t see his son who might be dying.

   When Bobby brings Pam home, Sue Ellen tells her how sorry she is, she asks her how she feels, when Pam tells her that she feels empty, Sue Ellen tells her it will pass.

   Luke and Bobby say goodbye, they start to drive away, but Luke stops his father, and runs to hug Bobby, while Pam and Miss Ellie watch.
Final Thoughts:  Of course Pam would lose her baby, I'm glad that she finally told Bobby, they just need to adopt a baby.  And it's about time Sue Ellen went to a therapist.
