Remember the Good Times

Knots Landing
Season 2 Episode 3
Original Airdate: December 4, 1980

Recap:  Abby is lying in the pool as Karen folds Abby’s laundry that she did for her too, Val comes over to show them her new dishes that she just bought.  Abby asks Val if she can babysit, so she can go on a date, but Val tells her that she can’t she has to go to a meeting with Gary.  She asks her what kind of meeting and Val tells her that Gary is an alcoholic.
At the meeting that night, Val introduces Gary to Judy, she tells them that she was supposed to come with her husband but he never showed up.  Val suggests that Gary talk to him, and Gary’s doctor, who is also an alcoholic tells him says that it’s a good idea.  They leave the meeting and Judy finds her husband Earl outside, she introduces him to Val and Gary.  Val gives him Gary’s number at work and their home number and tells him that it’s just in case he wants help.  Earl rips the card up.
Ginger comes home from a date, he wants to come inside with her but she tells him she has a headache.  That doesn’t deter him, but luckily for her the phone rings and she gets rid of him.  Kenny is calling he wants to pick up a microphone, she tells him to come by in the morning.
As they are getting into bed, Gary tells Val that Earl is nothing but trouble; she tells him that he could help him.  He tells her that Earl has to want the help, and he doesn’t want it yet, he knows because that is how he was.
Everyone, but Abby is working on moving things into her house, she invites Richard over to swim, when Laura comes out she invites her took, mainly because Ginger is right there.  Inside Abby tells Karen that she needs to break a date since she has so much work to do; Karen suggests that Eric came babysit for her.
At the dealership, Gary is trying to convince Sid on an idea to bring in more business.  They are interrupted by Earl, who stumbles in and starts knocking things over.  Gary takes him to his place, when Val comes back home from Abby’s, Gary tells her that Earl is upstairs.  She tells him to go back to work and she’ll call Judy.
Ginger gets home and finds Kenny; he has brought the microphone back, like it’s something that she can’t live without.  He tells her he wants to take her out to dinner, to the restaurant they had their first date, and where he proposed to her.
Judy tells Val about how she and Earl ended up in California, he joins them downstairs and soon he and Judy are arguing.
Ginger and Kenny are at the restaurant they are talking about their past.
Judy is helping Val set the table when Gary gets home; he goes up to check up on Earl.  Earl asks him if he has to deal with the women, Gary tells him only during dinner, and then they are going to go to a meeting.  After Gary leaves to go wash up, Earl gets up and takes a drink from a bottle he had in his pocket.  Over dinner Val is trying to keep the conversation cheerful, but Earl is belligerent, he excuses himself and Judy tries to apologize for his behavior.  He goes into the bathroom, which I thought had to be a closet since it’s right off the front door, and takes another drink.  When he sits back down, Val suggests that he eat something, he starts pounding the table and throws the dishes.  Gary takes him away, and Val tells Judy that everything will be alright.
At the AA meeting, Gary convinces Earl to speak, when they ask if it’s anyone’s first meeting.  Everyone cheers him on, Earl he looks surprised by all the attention, I think he likes the feeling.  After the meeting Earl asks Gary if he is his sponsor, Gary say that he guesses that he is.  Gary suggests they go get a cup of coffee and talk.  Gary asks him when he started drinking, he tells him that he used to only drink after work, then it became all the time.  Gary tells him about how he had been sober for a year, before he started drinking again.  Earl tells him that he can’t go through the day without a drink and gets up; Gary tells him that he will help him; Earl goes to the bar (why did they go to a place that had a bar?  I’m sure that they must have a Waffle House or something).  He tells Gary that he doesn’t want to stop.
Kenny and Ginger come home, she thanks him for the evening and they kiss, and go inside.
Gary gets home and he tells Val that Earl is out drinking.  She tells him that she is sorry that she gave him his number.  He tells Val that he is sure that Earl is ready to stop, but he needs someone that can really help him.
Karen goes over to Abby’s and finds that she still isn’t home, she send Eric home since it’s a school night, and she stays to wait for Abby to come home.
Gary tells Val that he doesn’t want to talk about his drinking problem, but Val tells him that she wants to help him that it’s what they promised each other, when they got back together again.  The phone rings, interrupting their moment, it’s Judy.  Gary tells her that he’s on his way.  He tells Val he needs to go on his own and that she shouldn’t wait up.
Earl wakes up screaming, Judy tells Gary that she doesn’t know why he’s doing this for them.  He tells her that it’s helping him not want to drink.  Earl starts to cry and Gary tells her that it’s worse than it looks.  She tells him that he is so strong, and that she can’t live with Earl anymore, she hugs him and tells him that she hopes that Val knows how lucky she is that he is sober.
Val is still up waiting for Gary to come home, she sees a car drive by; she looks out and sees that it’s only Abby.  When Abby gets home, she is surprised that Karen is there not Eric.  Karen tells her that she should have been home since it was the kid’s first night in a new house.  Abby doesn’t seem to be concerned about it at all.
Gary calls Val and tells her that they took Earl to the hospital, she tells him she’ll be right over.
Kenny thinks that he can move back in, but Ginger tells him that unless they resolve their problems then nothing will change.  He can’t live with another woman and be with her too.
The doctor pulls Val aside and tells her that she doesn’t need to take care of Gary anymore, he will have to do things that she can’t be a part of, she tells Val about the AL ANON meetings.  When Gary leaves Earl’s room, he finds Val waiting for him.  He tells her that he has never felt better, and she tells him how proud she is of him.
Final Thoughts:  My favorite part of this episode was when Abby isn’t doing anything and everyone is working, and Karen asks her if she did any cleaning before.  I hope that Gary doesn’t relapse; this isn’t a storyline that I really enjoy.  I have a feeling that this isn’t the last time we see Judy or Earl, especially when Judy hugged Gary.
Best Outfit:  Too much going on one pattern with the black would have been fine.

JR drops a bottle onto the floor waking Sue Ellen, he tells her that he has to talk to her.  He tells her that everyone saw her, and she’s an embarrassment to him.  She says that the last thing she remembers is waiting for him at the office, he tells her he was working, and then says that it won’t happen again.  He tells her that he’s removing all the bottles from the bedroom, and will have all the liquor cabinet’s locked and the servants won’t open them for her.  Once he leaves she gets up and goes to the closet and takes out a bottle from a shoe box.
The next morning Bobby asks JR how Sue Ellen is, he doesn’t give him a answer, he asks if their parents left already, and Bobby reminds him that they went to Jock’s doctor’s appointment.  After he leaves, Pam tells Bobby she doesn’t like leaving Sue Ellen and Lucy home alone, he tells her that Ray will check in on them.  Bobby finds Lucy and tells her that he wants to talk to her once he gets home.  After he leaves she pulls out another packet of the pills and takes one.
Lucy is wandering around the house and giggling, she sees Sue Ellen coming down the stairs with a suitcase she asks her where she’s going.  Sue Ellen falls down the stairs, and Lucy sit by her side and is giggling when Ray comes in and finds them now this isn’t supposed to be funny, but it’s some of the funniest stuff on the show so far, Lucy is kind of poking at Sue Ellen laughing, and Ray is trying to get her to leave Sue Ellen alone, who’s moaning about the baby.  Ray calls an ambulance.
In Bobby’s office he’s going over some plans, and tells the man he’s with that the O.L,M won’t approve them, even if Cliff Barnes is his brother-in-law.  Ray calls Bobby and tells him about Sue Ellen and that Lucy got into more pills, he tells him he’ll be home soon.  Bobby goes to tell JR about Sue Ellen.
At the hospital, the doctor is looking over the print outs, Sue Ellen asks her if the baby is okay, she tells her that the baby will be fine.  The doctor leaves her and goes to talk to JR, she tells him that Sue Ellen was lucky this time, and that she told Sue Ellen that she needed to stop drinking, and tells him that he needs to take Sue Ellen to a clinic, but he tells her that the Ewing’s take care of their own, she says that they haven’t done a very good job so far.   Miss Ellie goes to see Sue Ellen, Jock stays behind to talk to JR, he tells him that he’s going to be watching him more closely to be sure he is doing what he should be doing.
Bobby gets home and asks where Lucy is, and Ray tells him that he got the rest of her pills.  Lucy tells him she’s sorry and doesn’t know how she could just sat there when Sue Ellen needed her help.  He asks how she would have felt if Sue Ellen died, he asks her why she’s taking the pills, she tells him to take the pain away.  He tells her that once she stops taking the pill she will feel better , she just needs to give it some time, but the pills arent’ the answer.
Sue Ellen tells Miss Ellie she needs to be more careful walking around in high heel shoes.  JR announces that Sue Ellen won’t be coming home right away, he’s going to send her to a clinic, she tries to protest, but Miss Ellie and Jock tell her that it’s what she needs.  Sue Ellen is in denial, she can’t imagine why she would need to go to the clinic.
JR drives her there, she begs him not to leave her there, he tells her it will just be till the baby is born, and the orderlies drag her into the building as she screams at JR.
Final Thoughts:  I thought Sue Ellen looked like Bella from Breaking Dawn during the scene when JR talks to her in bed, when I get the movie I want to make a video using the dialogue from Breaking Dawn with the video from this episode.
Best Outfit:  This shirt is weird it's got that illusion fabric that they use in ice skating costumes, and that look on Lucy's face is hilarious.

Fallon's Father

Dynasty
Season 2 Episode 4
Air Date:  November 25, 1981 (1981-11-25)

rerRecap:  Alexis joins Blake at the pool, he catches her in a lie about his roses.  He asks what she wants.  She tells him she wants him to make things up with Steven.  She tells him that he's his only child and that Fallon isn't his daughter, he tells her to stop telling that lie.
Jeff wants to go look for houses, but Steven calls and tells Fallon that he wants to see her.
He tells her that he wants to make things up with her, she tells him that he needs to give their father a chance.  He tells her that no matter what anyone says that he'll always be her brother, and that he loves her.  She realizes that he knows something, but he doesn't tell her what it is.
At breakfast, Blake asks Krystle what's wrong, she tells him that she wanted to bring up flowers to Claudia, but Alexis had them all cut.  He tell her not to think about her that she'll be gone soon.  Jeff joins Krystle and tells her that they are going to be moving.  She tells him that they don't need to leave because of her having a baby.  Jeff pretends like he knew.
Krystle goes to Alexis' studio and confronts Alexis about the flowers, she tells her that she isn't a guest, and if she wants flowers then she needs to go buy her own.  Alexis tells her that she would like to paint Krystle and that they can give to Blake as a gift (why would she want to give Blake a gift with her, they aren't friends).  Krystle tells her that she's got a lot of nerve
Blake meets Cecil at the air field.  Blake tells him that he doesn't think Cecil tired very hard to support Blake's interests in California.
Nick arrives at the Carrington mansion, Krystle takes him up to Claudia's room, she asks him if she can visit with Claudia, and wants her to feel welcome in the house.  He asks Claudia how she is doing.  She tells him that she's trying to sort things out, but it doesn't help.  He tells her that it will take time.  He asks if she loved Matthew and about her feelings for Steven.  She says that a part of her will always love Steven, he tells her that there's nothing wrong with her feelings.
Cecil comes to visit Alexis, she asks him to help her get Steven back into Blake's will.  She tells him that he is Fallon's father, he says that there were a lot of other men at that time, so it could by anyone, but she says no that he was very memorable.  He stops her from telling Blake that he's the father, and says that he'll help her.
Krystle brings Claudia flowers, she tells her that she wishes she had been more honest with Claudia, things might have been different then.  Claudia asks her if Matthew told her were he took Lindsay, Krystle says that she hasn't heard from Matthew, Claudia gets upset and smashes the vase of roses.
Cecil and Steven meet for lunch, Steven asks why he's getting involved.
Fallon is playing tennis and Jeff comes over and asks why she didn't tell him about Krystle being pregnant, and if that's why she wants to have a baby.
Nick is working on his car when Krystle calls, she tells him she wants to talk to him about Claudia.  She tells him about Matthew, he offers her some wine, she decline, he puts a grape in her mouth, which seems to creep her out.  She then tells him that Matthew had an affair and that Claudia knows who she was, and then she reveals that it was her.  Krystle tells him that there's something about Nick that makes her uneasy, and she wants to know who he is.  She gets up and has a dizzy spell, he takes her home.
Steven is really drunk.  Blake asks him why he's there, Steven tells him that he's forgiven him, because of his talk with Fallon and Cecil.  Blake asks why he was talking with Cecil, Steven tells him that Alexis asked him to talk to Steven.  He tells Blake that he's lucky that Alexis didn't tell the court all her secrets, he rushes out of the house and hits his head on the railing of the pool ladder and falls into the pool.
Nick has just dropped off Krystle and they hear the dogs barking, Nick rushes to the back and pulls Steven out of the pool, he tells the security guard to call the paramedics while he begins CPR.
At the hospital Blake watches as the doctors work on Steven, Alexis rushes in the doctors tell them that they need to leave, they comfort each other, and Krystle sees them, Nick watches her to see her reaction to this.
Final Thoughts:  Steven was so funny while he was drunk.  I don't know what's up with Nick, but shoving that grape in Krystle's mouth like that was just too weird.  I have a feeling that Fallon is going to find out about Blake not being her father very soon.
Best Outfit:  Not only is the pattern on the jacket hideous, but the dress, the nylons, and the shoes all match.  It wouldn't be that bad if the nylons were nude.
Fight Count:  2 (Krystle vs Alexis) (Claudia vs Krystle)

The Birthday Party

Dynasty
Season 1 Episode 10
Air Date:  March 16, 1981

Recap:  While Blake is standing outside pensively, Michael comes over and tells him about Krystle and the necklace.
Fallon is making dinner at Steven's, she has to change her shirt, and finds Claudia's lingerie, she asks Steven about it, he won't tell her who she is.  Jeff joins them for dinner.
Krystle brings Blake something to eat, and tells him that she thinks that they should throw a birthday party for Cecil Colby.  He doesn't want to do it, and tells her to leave him alone.  He asks her if she's been faithful.  Krystle asks if he would believe her, and tells him no that she has nothing to confess.
Fallon tells Jeff that Steven's in love.  She asks Jeff what's wrong, he's still upset about New Orleans, he tells her that Blake talked to Cecil.
Blake and Joseph are playing pool, Blake's mind isn't on the game and tells Joseph is surrounded by people he can't trust.  Krystle come in and Blake tells her that he changed his mind and he wants her to arrange things for the party, and that he wants her to wear the necklace.
Jeff asks Fallon why she married him while they are getting ready for the party.  She tells him the truth that his uncle promised to bail out her father, she tries to tell him that she only made it up, but he knows the truth.
Krystle is about to put on her pearls when Blake comes in and tells her that he wanted her to wear the emerald necklace.
They are taking the private jet to the restaurant, Krystle tells Andrew that she wants to talk to him, she tells him that she wants some money.  He promises her that he won't tell Blake, but not to test his loyalty to Blake.  Jeff catches Fallon and Cecil holding to hands.
This is supposed to be Cecil Colby's favorite
restaurant.  Not what I would call fine a fine
dining experience by the looks of it.
At the restaurant, which seems looks like a run down breakfast place, things seem to be going great, Jeff is dancing with Cecil's date, and is really drunk, Krystle is just sitting there, not even trying to pretend like she's having a good time.  Jeff introduces the group to Cecil's date, the things he says about them aren't nice, he toasts Krystle who's the only one there who's good, she gets up and leaves the restaurant, Blake makes Fallon go after her.  Fallon tells Krystle she knows that Krystle sold the necklace and gave the money to Matthew, but she doesn't know if Blake knows.  Jeff says that he and Fallon are going to go back to the plane, and tells Cecil that he needs to get his date who has passed out.  Blake wishes Cecil a happy birthday, he seems pretty pleased with himself.
Michael tells Matthew that his boss wants to see him, when Matthew gets into the car he finds that it's Fallon, not Blake.  She tells him that Krystle is in a mess because of him.  She tells Matthew that she thinks that her father knows about Krystle selling the necklace, and she wants Matthew to take Krystle away from her father.  Matthew gets out of the car and leaves Fallon.
Blake wants to know if Krystle cares and if she loves him, he wants her to show him how much she loves him, after she kisses him, her walks away with the brandy decanter.
Steven has a visitor at the refinery, it's Ted.  He tells him that he's on vacation, and wants to be near Steven.  Steven tells him that things have changed, and that he's been seeing a woman.  Ted wants to know where Steven is living, and he wants Steven to give him a key, when Steven doesn't get all excited and give him the key right away, he asks if she's living with him, he tells Ted that she's married.
Krystle meets with Matthew who gives her the money back, she asks how he got it, and he reminds her that the oil came in so the banks are giving them loans again.
Ted and Steven are playing a game, and then he asks Steven if he can stay, I bet that he didn't even bother getting a hotel.  Steven says yes.
Krystle goes to get the necklace back, but he tells her that they didn't think she'd be back so they sold it already.
Final Thoughts:   Ted is really pushy I don't like this storyline at all, he wants Steven to think exactly like him, and doesn't accept his choices, even if Ted is correct he should be more understanding and not be so clingy with him.  I can imagine a Fatal Attraction thing happening if Steven leaves him again.
Best Outfit:  This was the best shot of this I could get, it's not a bad dress, it's just got to much sparkle and it looks like something an old lady would wear and she doesn't look that old.
Fight Count:  0
