Season 2 Episode 6

Airdate:  November 12, 1982

Recap:  Maggie gets home and finds Cole packing up his car with his things.  He tells her that he is moving to Catherine’s place and that he can’t take it at home anymore.

   Lance leaves Falcon Crest after telling Melissa that he won’t be home for dinner.

   Maggie tells Chase about Cole as they are getting dinner ready, Vicky doesn’t see this as a problem since he is still in the Valley, but Maggie tells her that it’s like he ran away.  Chase says that he can’t believe that Cole didn’t come talk to him first.  The phone rings and it’s Chase’s mother Jacqueline.  He tells her not to come.

   Chase goes to see Cole, he tells him that with the murder trial coming up, that he needs his family.  Cole tells him that he needs his freedom too, Katherine comes over and Cole introduces them to each other.  She tells Chase what a help Cole has been to her.

   Lance surprises Lori on the pier, she tells him that she is tired of all the secret meetings, she tells him that if he was his own man then he would be out on his own, doing what he wanted.  He tells her that this is just the way his family does things.  She tells him that she doesn’t understand it them.

   Diana is going over the report about what Cole has been doing with Richard.

   Jacqueline gets into a limo at the airport and asks to be taken to the Tuscany Valley. 

   Chase and Maggie are in bed when the door bell rings, Chase opens the door and finds his mother there.  The next morning she tells them that she hired a criminal lawyer for Cole, they tell her that they will stick with their lawyer.  Jacqueline asks where Cole is staying. 

   Katherine brings Cole something to drink, while he is working on the roof of her house, they talk about what she is going to make for dinner, she stumbles and he grabs her and they kiss.  There is someone hiding taking photos of them.

   Philip tells Angela that if Douglas knew what Richard would do to the paper he would have made other arrangements.  Angela tells him that it’s up to her now.  She says that they need to find Emma so she can get her proxy.  He suggests that she should buy all the outstanding shares of The Globe, she tells him to get on it.  Chase comes over and tells Angela that his mother is here to visit, he mentions that he will be bringing her for a tour of the winery.  After he leaves, Angela tells her lawyer that she doesn’t want Jacqueline on her property, Philip tells her that it will be hard since Chase owns half of Falcon Crest.

   Jacqueline and Maggie goes to see Cole, he takes them to his room.  Maggie notices that Katherine is doing his laundry, she tells him that she wants him to bring his laundry home.  Jacqueline tells him that she is there for him.

   Emma calls Chase and tells him that she is in Louisiana, she tells him that she was being followed, but that she thinks managed to give them the slip.  She tells him that she trusts him to do the right thing with her proxy.  He asks her to give him a phone number, but she hangs up.

   Julia finds Lance picking out some wine, she tells him that she wants him to go with Melissa to her childbirth classes.

   Maggie gets upset with Jacqueline for the things she bought for Vicky, when Chase comes home, he suggests that they talk about it after dinner.  They go outside to talk, and Chase tells her that she is only doing what any grandmother does for her grandchildren.  Maggie tells him that they went to see Cole, she tells him that she doesn’t think living at Catherine’s is a good idea for him, Chase agrees but tells her that there is nothing he can do about it at this point.  Maggie tells him that she is worried about Cole, and he tells her that they all are.

   Richard picks a new photo of Katherine and Cole for the headline for the paper.  Diana shows him a photo of Cole and Jacqueline, he asks who she is, and Diana tells him that she is Cole grandmother.  Richard tells her that they will have to keep an eye on her too.

   Philip comes over and tells Angela that she now owns 10,000 shares of The Globe.  She is surprised how much it cost her, but he tells her that the prices went up once Richard took over, he tells her that the paper is making money.  She tells him that they need to find Emma, that she really needs her proxy.  Philip tells her that they almost had her in Louisiana, but they can’t figure out what her plans are.  Angela tells him to put more people on it.

   Lance drives over to Lori’s for dinner, and Melissa follows him.  Lori and Lance go out to the balcony where she has the table set, she tells him that she doesn’t want to get used to the best, and he tells her that he isnt’ going anywhere.  Melissa watches them from her car.

   Melissa gets home later as Angela goes back upstairs, she says that she thought Lance was with her, Melissa tells her that she went out to dinner with a friend.

  Maggie meets with Catherine, she tells her that Cole needs his family right now, and Catherine tells her that she really disapproves of her, and Maggie tells her that she won’t let her take her son.

   Later Catherine tells Cole that she saw his mother, she tells him that she was right, but Cole tells her that he is going to stay with her.

   Richard goes to Julia’s lab, he tells her that he has come to talk business.  He offers her cash and that he will find Tony and get him a job for her shares.  Julia asks him how he will find Tony, and he tells her that it will be his problem.  Angela walks in and tells him that Julia isn’t interested in his offer.  Julia tells him that she will think about it

   Chase is showing Jacqueline around when they run into Angela and Richard leaving the winery.  Angela asks her how long she is staying, and Jacqueline tells her she will stay as long as she is needed.  Angela introduces her to Richard.  Something is wrong with Jacqueline after she meets Richard, when they are gone, Chase asks her if she is alright.

   Melissa asks Lance if he is going back to San Francisco, he tells her that he doesn’t care that she knows where he is going.  She cries out in pain, at first he doesn’t seem to believe her, he goes to her side, and then Angela comes in, she tells him to go call for the doctor.

   Cole goes to see Richard, he tells him to stop convicting him before he has gone to trial, and he tells him to leave Catherine out of it.  Richard tells him to get out of his office.  Cole asks him why he is doing this to him.  Richard tells him that he is doing it to himself.

   Jacqueline tells Chase and Maggie that she has to go, but that she will be back.  Chase asks her why she is leaving, she tells him that he was right, she shouldn’t have come.  She gives him a check for the legal expenses, he tells her that he doesn’t want it, but she makes him keep it just in case.  Maggie asks him if he gave her a nudge to leave, he says no, but he thinks that someone else did.

   The doctor comes down and tells them that the baby is in a breach position and that if could endanger Melissa’s life and the baby’s, he tells them that she is to stay in bed and that she should not be upset.  Angela tells Lance that Melissa needs the presence of a loving husband, so he needs to stay home from now on.

Final Thoughts:  Okay whats up with Jacqueline and Richard, that was the most interesting thing to happen in this episode.  I kind of wish that Lana Turner was a regular in the show.
Best Outfit:  If this pajamas I would like to know what's up with the huge necklace.

Season 3 Episode 4

Airdate:   October 27, 1982

Recap:  Alexis is in the waiting room of the hospital, Jeff talking on a pay phone, when he hangs up, he tells her that all the arrangements have been made, and the funeral will be on Thursday.  She asks him if he remembers the day she left Denver and reminds him what he said to her.  She tells him that just like that day he is making this day more bearable, and thanks him for being there for her.

   Jeff goes to Blake’s office and tells him that he went to Cecil’s office and he could still feel him there, and he asks him why he spent so much time hating him, Blake tells him that he did nothing to hurt Cecil.  Jeff tells him that he did, that Cecil knew that he loved Blake like a father, and that he will make sure that his son loves him as much as he does.  Blake tells Jeff that he needs to talk to him about Fallon.

   Fallon is at the hotel going over models for the hotel, she tells the designer, Billy that she wants to completely redo it, they agree on his fee, and they go to the bar to celebrate.  Jeff walks in and sees them; he turns around and leaves the hotel.

   At the house, Jeff goes into the nursery and picks up the baby, Fallon walks in and he makes a comment about her drinking.  She tells him that she was with the designer she hired for the hotel.  He asks her what else she has to tell him.  She tells him that she wants to separate.  He tells her that he won’t move out and will see his son whenever he wants.  She tells him that she won’t be spending all her time at the hotel.  He tells her about Cecil’s death, she tells him that she is sorry, but he tells her that she made it clear to him how she feels about his side of the family.

   At ColbyCo, Alexis is with Cecil’s secretary, she is telling her how she felt about Cecil.  Fallon walks in and tells her mother that she just heard about Cecil.  Alexis goes off on her for not thinking of her, when her baby was found.  She tells her that not to bother coming to the funeral, she knows that she is only here with her support since Alexis might be coming into some money.  Fallon leaves but turns back and tells her mother that she can feel her concern, is she in Cecil’s will or was she written out.

   Blake comes home early and is out riding, he gets off when he finds Krystle, by the pond.  They walk back to the house, and she tells him that she understands why Fallon wants to work.  She tells him that it isn’t easy for Fallon to be his daughter.  She tells him that she is asking for something that he needs.  Blake tells her that she is doing this just to cut Jeff out of her life.  Krystle says that maybe with the hard work at the hotel, Fallon will learn to appreciate Jeff and the baby more.  He tells her about Michael coming to see him.

Michael is at the hotel on the payphone; he is trying to find Alexis but isn’t having much luck.  

   Billy brings Fallon his drawings for the hotel; she tells him that she likes what he’s done.  He tells her that the manager asks him about what they were doing and isn’t happy, he tells her that the regular clients of the hotel have told him that they like the way things are.  She tells him that she wants new clients, ones that are alive. 

  Michael asks the man at the front desk for his bill, he tells him that his business in Denver is finished.  He bumps into Fallon and gets her to have a drink with him, she tries to go after the first drink, but he has already sent over for more, and they continue their talk.  He kisses her and she gets up to leave, he calls after her that he still doesn’t know her name, she calls back that she knows that he doesn’t.  The news catches his attention, and he learns that Alexis had just married Cecil right before he died.  He goes back to the front desk and tells him that he has changed his mind about checking out.

   Jeff walks in on Fallon interviewing a woman to be the new nurse for the baby.  He tells her that that they will let her know when they have made their decision.  After the woman leaves, he tells Fallon that the woman was drunk; he tells her that he will do the interviewing at the Denver Carrington offices.  She tells him that she can do it that she doesn’t spend all her time at the hotel.  

   Fallon goes up to Krystle’s room and asks her if Jeanette can continue to take care of the baby till they can find someone else.  Krystle says that it’s fine if Jeanette is okay with it.  Fallon thinks that she is judging her for not taking care of her baby herself.  Krystle tells her that she isn’t judging her she just would do things differently if she were lucky enough to have a baby.  She tells her that she is on her side and told Blake to give her a chance, and that if she doesn’t like what she has to say she can leave since it was Fallon who came to talk to her not the other way around..

   Cecil’s lawyer comes over and tells Blake that he and Krystle need to be present for the reading of the will; he tells them that Cecil had a premonition that he would die and sent him to get an envelope at his office.

Joseph is picking up some papers for Blake at the hotel, when Michael starts questioning him about Alexis, he tells Michael to talk to Alexis if he wants the answers.

   Alexis walks into the office, the secretary asks her if she knows how many people are coming.  Alexis tells her that she doesn’t the lawyer made all the arrangements.  Krystle walks in and Alexis asks her what she is doing there, she tells her that she and Blake were invited by Cecil.  Alexis tells her that she thinks that she was after Cecil and when he turned her down since she wasn’t his type she moved on to Blake.  She asks her if she thinks she made Cecil marry her.  The lawyer is reading the will and Alexis is left his house and the apartment, and half the business, the other half is left to Jeff and his son.  He goes on to the further instructions and plays the tape of Blake threatening to get Rhinewood.  Blake asks how it got here, the lawyer reads further and it’s revealed that Cecil was Logan Rhinewood, and that Alexis will continue his fight to bring Blake down.  After everyone leaves Blake confronts her, asking her if she was in on the whole Rhinewood thing, she tells him that she knew nothing about it.  He tells her that he will fight her for the rest of his life and she won’t get her hands on Denver Carrington.  On the way to the elevator Jeff tells Blake that can’t believe that Cecil was behind the assassination attempt on Blake.

   Alexis asks Cecil how she is supposed to get Blake she turns and sees Michael, she asks him how long he had been standing there, he tells her not long.  She asks him who he is, he tells her that he is Michael Torrance, she tells him to leave, he asks her is she wants to know why he came to see her.  He shows her the rattle; she asks him where he got it.  He tells her that he got it from an old woman claiming to be his grandmother.  Alexis asks why he didn’t contact her before, he tells her that he didn’t know where to find her, and then when he did, he wanted to wait till after the funeral.  He tells her about what the old woman told him about the day she took him from the baby carriage.  He tells her that he went to see Blake, and he threw him out, and expects her to do the same.  He tells her that he will be at the hotel for one more day, and he tells her that it was more than he expected to see his beautiful mother.  After he leaves she picks up the rattle and asks if it really is Adam.  

Final Thoughts:  I think Blake made a mistake rejecting Michael/Adam, Alexis is going to use him to get Blake and I can already tell that his is a jerk.  And wait till he realizes that he was flirting with his sister, yuck.  I’m glad that Cecil is gone, he didn’t bring anything to the show and I’m sure Alexis will find someone else soon.
Best Outfit:  Why not just have the red shirt and skirt, why must she have the red boots?

Season 3 Episode 14

Original Airdate:  December 20, 1979

Recap:  Miss Ellie is going through Gary’s things, it’s something that she does every year on his birthday.  Jock goes to Miss Ellie and tells her that it isn't good for her to brood about the past.  She tells him that she just wants Gary home.  He tells her that even if they could find him that he would just run away again.

   Sue Ellen tells JR that she hopes he and Kristin will have fun on his business trip, he keeps on insisting that nothing is going on between the two of them, and accuses her of having a dirty mind. 

   Miss Ellie asks Lucy to take her to her mother, she asks Val to tell Gary that she wants to see him, and Val promises her that she will tell him as soon as she talks to him.

   Rudy, an old boyfriend of Kristin calls Southfork and talks to Sue Ellen, who tells him where he can find her and suggest that he go and surprise her.

   Val goes home and tells Gary about what Miss Ellie said, she sees his suitcase and realizes that he is leaving again, her tells her that he got a job, she knows that he is lying, he tells her that he can’t get a job in TX, she asks him about them, she asks how long it will be before they are sure that they will stay together.  He tells her that he I sorry.

   When Kristin and JR get to the hotel Rudy is there ans sees her with JR.

   Gary goes to see Bobby, Bobby calls home and puts Miss Ellie on the phone, Gary promises to meet her the next day.  Sue Ellen overhears Miss Ellie’s side of the conversation.

   Kristin and JR are going to dinner, when he spots an old business associate, they go over to say hello, but end up joining them and talking business.  JR sends Kristin off so they can keep talking, she goes to the bar and finds Rudy, he tells her that Sue Ellen told him where he could find her.  HE asks her about her and JR.

   The next day Bobby takes Miss Ellie to Ewing Oil to meet with Gary.  She thanks Val for giving Gary the message.  She tells him that she knows that part of the reason he left Southfork was because she insisted that he move back in.  She asks them about their plans, they tell her that they’ve been talking about getting remarried and moving to California, Gary tells Miss Ellie that he is tired of breaking his promises to everyone.  Gary proposes to Val, and Miss Ellie calls for Bobby and tells him that Val and Gary are getting remarried.

   Kristin asks if there are any messages for her, the hotel concierge tells her that JR is in the lounge.  JR tells her that he still has come business to take care of.  She leaves and goes to see Rudy.

   Bobby is making arrangements for the wedding to take place that day.  Bobby says that he will take Miss Ellie shopping after he signs come papers, he tells her about the houses he bought in California, she asks to see the pictures.

   After shopping they go back to Southfork to change.  Bobby tells Jock about the wedding, he says that he should come.  Jock tells him that Gary has been given enough chances, Bobby tells him where they will be and that he hopes that he will come.  Bobby tells Miss Ellie that he told Jock, Sue Ellen is in the other room and hears this as well.

   JR calls Southfork and talks to Sue Ellen, she tells him about Gary and Val getting remarried.  He goes to make arrangements to return to Dallas.  He is going to leave a note for Kristin and she can drive herself back, but the concierge tells him he can’t get the rental he requested.  The bell boys tell JR where Kristin went, and JR gets one of them to take him to the hotel she went to.

   Miss Ellie gives Gary and Val a house, she tells them to take the gift, after they try to refuse saying it’s too much.  There is a knock at the door, it’s Jock, he tells them that he would like to attend the ceremony if he is welcome.  Gary and Jock hug, and Jock wishes him good luck.

   Rudy tells Kristin that he still loves her, Jock walks into the room and tells Kristin to get dressed.  Rudy tries to stop her but she tells him that she has to go.  Kristin asks JR why he tore himself away from business, he tells her about Garry, and then then calls Rudy’s boss and tells him that he has no character and suggests that the Ewing's will take their money from the bank if he isn’t fired.  Rudy asks Kristin if this is what she really wants, she tells him yes and leaves with JR.

   Gary Val and Bobby fly to California too look at houses.  They can move into the house in Knots Landing in a week after the few minor repairs are completed. 

   Back in Dallas Sue Ellen says it was a real pleasure to see everyone so happy, she says that she is happy to see JR lose.  She tells him about Val and Gary living in California, which brightens his mood.

Final Thoughts:  I like how they tied in this with Knots Landing, I wish that they would have done more cross-over episodes, I have a feeling that Kristin's days as JR's secretary/lover are coming to an end.

Best Outfit:  Okay, this isn't too bad, but stop tying back your hair like your a little child.

Season 1 Episode 8

Air Date:  February 14, 1980

Recap:  Karen, Val and Laura are coming back from shopping, as they are helping her carry the stuff in the car, Laura tells them that she wants to go to visit her father, who isnt’ feeling well, but Richard told her that they can’t afford it, Val and Karen tell her just to tell him that she is going.  Karen goes to get the box from the car as a taxi pulls up.  A lady gets out and introduces herself to Val, it’s Sid’s ex-wife Susan.  Karen invites her inside and introduces her to Val and Laura

   Ginger is just getting home from grocery shopping, Eric rides over and helps her bring them inside.  They discover that they both like jazz.

   Sid calls Karen back after getting her message, she tells him that Susan is there about something about their daughter and some paper that he needs to sign.  Karen invites her to dinner, but Sid thinks that this is a bad idea.  Karen leaves them to go change leaving Laura and Val alone with Susan, Laura leaves quickly after that to go pick up Jason.

   Ginger and Eric are listening to the records, she doesn’t get to listen to them often because Kenny doesn’t like jazz.

   When Sid gets home he finds Karen still trying to find something to wear.  He asks her what she’s thinking, and he tells her that nothing but trouble will come of Susan being here.  He tells her that she wants something.

   Later Susan tells them she doesn’t understand why the lawyer didn’t call Sid, but he is out of town till Monday, so she is going to stay in town till then.  Diana makes a sarcastic remark about her staying at the house, and Karen insists she stay.

   When Kenny gets home he tells Ginger that he has to go out of town for the weekend for work.  Eric is invited to stay for dinner.

   Laura tells Richard that she and Jason are going to go visit her father, he tells her to cancel the fight, Sid calls interrupting them, Richard agrees to go over and look over the papers Sid’s ex brought with her.

   Richard goes over and tells Sid that they are pretty routine, but Sid deosn’t think Annie should get all that money right away, so he won’t sign the papers. 

   Richard goes home and tells Laura that she should go visit her father, he is lusting after Susan.

   In their room Sid tells Karen that it’s crazy of her to invite Susan to stay with them, he tells her that he knows what Susan is after, but he wants to know what Karen is after.

   Later that night Sid is downstairs drinking a glass of milk.  Susan comes down and tells him that she knew that he would be there, he asks her why she’s here.  She won’t give him a straight answer, she kisses him and tells him that they will continue in the morning.

   Richard gets home from dropping Laura and Jason off at the airport, he goes over to Karen’s and when she suggest he join them for dinner, he suggests that they all go out dancing, Karen says she isnt’ sure what Sid will say, but Susan comes out and says that he will agree.  She goes over to Knots Landing Motors and meets Gary, who tells her he heard all about her from Val.  Sid tells her to go home, she tells him that she can’t since they are going out.  He asks her what she wants, and she reminds him about when they first met.  She tells him that he made her feel worthwhile.  She tells him that her mother wore her down and that’s why she left him, she tells him that her mother died, and that she needs him to make her feel like he used to, she doesn’t want to interfere with his marriage, she just needs him, and she tells him she knows that he won’t let her down.

   Karen tells him that she is sorry that she invited Susan to stay, while they are getting ready for dinner, she tells him that if he has anything that he needs to do then he should do it.

   Eric surprises Ginger bring over more records.

   At the restaurant Susan and Richard are dancing, Karen asks Sid what happened that afternoon, but he tells her to drop it.

   Ginger talks to Eric about her younger sister, she wants them to spend sometime together, he gets up quickly telling her to keep the records.  I think that he got upset with her since he’s got a crush on her.

While Sid and Susan dance, Karen and Richard dance, the whole time Karen is watching them.  Susan tells him that she is going to check into a hotel and wants him to meet her there Monday  He tells her what Karen told him, and she says that she is very understanding.  He tells her that Karen understands him.  Susan tells him that she doesn’t want to interfere, Sid tells her that he won’t betray Karen only for the one moment Susan wants to have with him.  Susan gets upset and makes Richard leave.  Karen is shocked about what happened, and Sid tells her that Susan is bad news.

   Richard asks Susan if she comes out to California often, she tells him she hates it here.  She tells him to keep driving.

   At home Karen tells Sid that she is sorry.  He tells her that she was testing him and that he doesn’t like it.  He reminds her that Susan was the one who left him.

   Richard and Susan stop at a cheap motel. 

   The next morning Karen tells Sid that Richard still isn’t home.  At the motel Richard asks her if she want s to get some breakfast, because he always gets hungry after sex yuck, why do I need to know that.  He suggests calling Laura and having her stay with her father longer so that they can spend more time together, but she asks why would they want to do that, clearly this is just a one night stand to her. 

   Susan gets back to Sid and Karen’s, she goes to the kitchen and sits with Karen, she tells her that she had Sid at the shop.  Karen tells her that wanting is one thing, doing something is another.  Susan tells her that she didn’t lose, she just moved to fast for Sid.  Karen tells her that she knew why she came back, she just wanted to make it easier for Sid to finish it with her.  She says that Sid would never have chosen her because he’s too good for her.

   Sid tells Susan goodbye and watches her taxi drive away.  Richard comes over and tells Sid that he and Susan just drove around and talked all night.  When Sid goes into the hose he tells Karen what Richard said, she asks him if he believes him, he tells her that he decided to.  She tells him that she was testing him, but only because she needed to be chosen.  She tells him that she would do it again.  He tells her that he loves her and doesn’t love Susan.  She asks him when he stopped loving Susan, he tells her that he thinks I twas when Diana was really sick and she was crying, which made Diana cry, he tells her that was when he realized he had never been closer  to another person till then. 

Final Thoughts:  Sid reminds me of Gene Kelly for some reason, I think it must be his voice,  Could they have made Richard a bigger ass-hole?  Susan was a bitch too, it was great the way Karen put her in her place.  I hope she made her feel worthless, instead of worthwhile.

Best Outfit:  This reminds me of something Anne Shirley would wear in Anne of Green Gables, even the way she did her hair is similar.

Knots Landing 

Season 1 Episode 5

Air Date:  January 25, 1980

Recap:  Val’s mother is at her door, but she isn’t home.  Karen comes over and introduces herself.  She tells her that she can wait for Val at her house.   Lilimae says she can’t find her wallet, and Karen pays the cabbie I’m positive that she just doesn’t have any money.  Lilimae asks if Lucy is living with Val, Karen tells her no that she should know that, Lilimae says of course she forgot.  Lilimae takes out her auto harp and begins to sing for her.

   Ginger and Val are driving home, she asks if they are going to be bringing Lucy out soon, Val tells her that she’s ready, but Gary isn’t yet, but she’s working on it.

   At Karen’s all the kids are listening to the song, they think it’s great.  Karen suggest that they all have dinner at her place.  When Val gets home, Karen’s son Mike tells her to come over that they have a surprise for her.  She is surprised alright, she asks her mother what she’s doing here, she doesn’t seem to happy to see her mother. 

   At dinner, everyone seems pretty happy, except for Val, she excuse herself and goes to the kitchen, she remembers a time when her mother left her and her father to go on tour.  Karen comes in and asks what’s wrong. 

   When they get home Val goes upstairs to get the room ready for Lilimae, Gary takes the suitcase upstairs and asks her what she’s doing, and if she really dislikes her mother that much.  Val tells him that they need to find out what her mother wants, give it to her and send her on her way.  She comes back downstairs and tells them that she’s tired and is going to bed, she lies in bed listening to her mother singing to Gary.  She remembers the time after her father died and her mother sent her to her grandmothers, so she could go on tour again.  She goes downstairs and demands to know why she is here.  Lilimae says that she came to see her, and that she’s also waiting on a call from her new manager.  Val dreams about the time she went to her mother for help, but she sent her off, and JR’s men took Lucy from her.  She wakes up screaming, and Gary tells her that the visit will be longer than a few days, Val tells him that she’ll deal with it tomorrow then.  In her room Lilimae takes out a large rag doll and says that she brought it to help Val, and that she is planning on staying awhile, she says to herself that she will paint the room blue.

   Gary finds Val making fritters, she tells him that she’s going to keep busy, and that she is going to have the neighbors over for coffee and dessert.  Laura comes over and asks her how long her mother is going to stay,  Val asks Laura if she sees her mother often, Laura tells her that her mother died when she was younger Laura told Val about that in the last episode. 

   Lilimae tells Val that she can’t serve the fritters to her neighbors, they are too country to the city folks, so she convinces her to make something else.  They taste it and Val thinks it’s gross, but Lilimae tells her that the neighbors will like it because that is what they are used to. 

Sid takes a spoonful of whatever it was they made and makes a face, he goes over to Gary and asks him what he’s eating her tells him the fritters are in the kitchen but to be subtle.  Sid passes Richard who just came out of the bathroom, he got rid of his too.  Kenny tries it and makes face and puts it down as fast as he can.  Lilimae suggest that they all sing, then she starts to talk about how Val never understood her dreams, Val gets upset and tells her that she doesn’t want to talk about it, and she goes to the kitchen.  She remembers her dream and we get to hear that Lilimae sent her away because she had her latest manager over and she didn’t want him to know she was a grandmother, so she sent Val off and that was how JR’s men got Lucy.  Val cries out, and Gary goes to her, everyone else follows and stands at the doorway.  Val screams at her mother that she hates her and that Lilimae turned her and Lucy away when she needed her mother. 

   Gary comes back to the kitchen and tells Val that everyone went home, she tells him how sorry she is, he tells her that he knows she tried.

   Diana finds her mother sitting on the sofa, she asks how the evening was Karen tells her that Val and her mother had a scene.  Diana tells her that she hopes that nothing ever comes between them.  They hug and she goes to bed, Karen calls her mother so see how she is doing. 

Val goes to her mother and apologizes, she tells her that she doesn’t hate her, she only hates what she did.     Lilimae tells her that she didn’t know that it happened, Val tells her that she tried to tell her, she tells Val that she’s got nowhere else to go, no money nothing.  Val leaves her.  Later Lilimae comes downstairs and tells them that she will leave in the morning.  Before going back upstairs she says that Val would have forgiven her if she had become famous.  In their bed Val tells Gary that she’s wrong all she wanted was a mother.  Val goes to her mother’s room and rests her head on her lap. 

   The next morning Lilimae tells Val that her manager called and has an opportunity for her, she is really going to make it this time.  Val wants to take her to the airport, but she tells her that she’ll take the cab.  Val says goodbye and watches the cab drive away.  She goes to the room and sees that her mother left the doll, she picks it up and hugs it to her and sings.
Final Thoughts:   The whole scene of the party was hilarious, I want to know what they were making, it must have been a hard recipe, if I remember correctly they didn't even have all the ingredients, I bet Val used them all up for the dozen batches of the fritters she made.  I like that her mother was planning on staying, without even asking if she could, you got to love relatives who don't know when they aren't wanted.  Lilimae needs to get to reality, she needs to realize that she will never become a famous singer, it was clear that this was what bothered Val so much about her past as well as her mother closing the door on her own daughter, if she didn't want that manger to know she was a grandmother, then she should have just lied to him and said that Val was her sister or a friend.  And that song Lilimae sings throughout the whole show is really annoying I can still hear it in my head days later.
Best Outfit:  Ugly top and an ugly pattern on that skirt.

Season 1 Episode 17

Recap:  JR is with Willie Joe and Jeb, they are concerned about their businesses and JR is trying to convince them to trust him.

    Bobby is walking down the street when someone calls his name, and throws a football to him,  Bobby is happy to see his old college friend, Guzzler.  They go have lunch and talk about the old days and what they are doing now.  Bobby invites Guzzler to come stay at Southfork.

   JR tells Willie Joe and Jeb that they’ll hit oil, but they aren’t so sure, they want to drill on the land on Southfork, JR reminds them that they can’t do anything till Jock dies.  He offers to advance them the money in good faith, but they want an independent evaluation, JR agrees but tells them that his mother can’t see what is going on so they need to be careful.

   Guzzler is entertaining the family with all his stories, everyone is impressed with him, but JR who goes up to bed complaining that he talks to much.  Sue Ellen tells him she’ll be up in a moment and goes to call Cliff, they arrange to meet on Sunday when JR has a meeting.  Jock and Miss Ellie tell Guzzler that he is welcome to stay awhile.

   Bobby gets the idea that he and Guzzler can work together in his construction business.  They go out and celebrate.

   Pam wakes up and finds Guzzler and Bobby come home very drunk.  Guzzler brings Bobby up to their bedroom and puts him the bed, he tries to kiss her, and she tells him to get out.

   The next day he scares her at the pool, and wants to know what’s wrong with her, he must not remember what he did the night before.  She goes up to her room and Guzzler tells Bobby that he’s in trouble.

   JR takes them out to the property where they have a geologist overseeing the evaluation, he tells them that there is a lot of oil on the land, Jeb and Willie Joe tells JR that this makes them feel a lot better. 

   Pam asks Bobby how long Guzzler is going to stay, he tells her as long as he can convince him to stay and he tells her about his plan on them going into business together.  She doesn’t think this is a good idea.  Bobby tells her she’s just jealous of Guzzler, she tells him to leave. 

    While Bobby and Guzzler are riding around, he comes up with the perfect project for them to work on, he wants to build a shopping center, on Southfork land. 

   Bobby goes to talk to Jock about it, and he agrees to look at the property, but wants JR to come along with them.

   Lucy and Guzzler are talking by the pool, she really is into him for some reason, they decided that they are going to go out for a ride, but when Pam comes out Guzzler suggests that they just go for a swim instead.  He asks Pam why she dislikes him so much, she tells him she doesn’t like how Bobby’s changed since he’s been at the house.  He then tells her how much Bobby means to him, and she apologizes telling him that she is now seeing a different side to him. 

   Jock reminds the boys that they can’t drill on Southfork land and it’s in his will too.  He thinks the shopping center is a good idea, but he says that they need to talk to Miss Ellie. 

   Miss Ellie isn’t happy about the idea of using the land her daddy loved so much, but when Jock says that it’s for Bobby she agrees.

   Willie Joe and Jeb go to see JR because they’ve heard about Bobby’s shopping center that will be built on the oil sight.  Willie Joe says that if JR doesn’t stop him then he will.  JR punches him and tells him never to threaten his brother, and for them to get out of his office. 

   Bobby and Guzzler are very busy with the new project, everyone wants in on the project and it’s getting bigger and bigger.

   JR calls his private investigator who tells him he can dig for more information, but JR says that what he’s given him is enough.

   Pam and JR meet up for lunch she wants to know what he wants.  He shows her what he dug up on Guzzler and tells her that they both want him out of Bobby’s life (though for different reasons)  Guzzler’s broke and has been scamming people all over the country.  She asks why didn’t tell Bobby himself, he says that Bobby’s got a blind spot, and he wants her to do it. 

   Bobby is getting to be a bit overwhelmed by how big the project has grown, Guzzler tells him that he’s a great salesmen and it’s going to be great.  Miss Ellie comes in and looks at the plans, she says it’s so much bigger than she thought.  Bobby can see she’s upset and follows her outside.  She asks why things have to change, he asks why she agreed to it.  She tells him that she loves the land, but that she loves her sons more.

   The next morning Pam gets up without waking Bobby and goes to Guzzler’s room, he thinks she’s coming in for something more than just talking.  She asks him about the scams he’s been running.  She calls him a user, and a liar.  He asks if she hired a detective, and he tells her she won.  No she says Bobby loses.  He tells her that Bobby was the only one he could go to, and that he just wants to be the guy he was in college again.  He wants to know if she’s going to tell Bobby, she says she doesn’t know and leaves the room.

   When she gets back to the bedroom, Bobby is awake.  She tells him that she found something out about Guzzler, Bobby tells her he already knows, and he was trying to help him.  She tells him that she thinks she might have hurt him, he tells Pam that she thinks he’s going to hurt Guzzler now. 

   Bobby finds Guzzler outside, Bobby tells him he wants to talk, he thinks the shopping center is getting too big.  Guzzler tells him that he was going to back out anyway, he got a call about problems in South America that he needs to take care of.  Bobby tries to stop him telling him they can look for a different property, but Guzzler tell him he’s got to go, that he’s needed somewhere else.  Bobby tells him when he comes back the offer still stands.  They say goodbye, and Pam joins Bobby as they watch his cab drive away.

Final Thoughts:  After Guzzler made that pass at Pam I thought that would be the problem of the show, I figured he wasn't really drunk and had his eye on her from the moment they met.  Pretty good episode, the guy who played Guzzler looked a lot older than Bobby, but maybe it was all the hard living.

Best Outfit:  I couldn't get over the pants.
