Knots Landing
Season 2 Episode
Original Airdate: January 1, 1981
Recap: Diana and her friends are roller skating, one
of the girls tells them that she slept with her boyfriend.
Val and
Karen are working out, they are getting ready for a benefit show, Karen is
doing a dance routine with Diana.
Richard comes over wanting to borrow a bay leaf; he tells them that
since Laura is working she doesn’t go grocery shopping. Karen and Val try to get him to help out
with, but he turns them down.
One of
the girls asks Diana why she hasn’t done it yet with her boyfriend. When the boys get there, Bobby asks Diana if
she wants to go to the game with him, she says yes, he tells her that his parents
won’t be home that night so she could come over after the game and listen to
him play his songs. She says that they
should just skip the game; she tells him that she could get a ride from the
girls.
Laura
comes home late from work, Richard tells her that the dinner is probably all
dried out, and Abby who is over for dinner, tells him in the most obviously
flirty was that it was the best meal she ever had.
Eric and
Michael are clearing away the dinner table, while Karen is working on Diana’s
costume. Michael has a huge stack of
dishes that he is trying to carry all at once, he drops them and Karen runs
over to clean it up, just as Diana is trying to talk to her about boys.
Richard
stops by Abby’s the next day to return the bay leaf, she tells him that she was
just about to call him to check out her kitchen sink. After he fixes the sink, Abby asks him what
he is doing for the rest of the day; he tells her that he has an interview in
an hour. The tension between the two is
getting to be so obviously I can’t understand why no one notices anything when
they are with other people.
Diana is
with her friends, they ask her if she is sure she wants to go through with it,
and say that it will be one of the best experiences of her life.
Eric and
Michael are playing chess, Diana comes downstairs all dressed up for the
game. Michael gets upset with something
Eric did, and throws the board to the ground running out of the room.
The
girls drive Diana to Bobby’s house, they tells her that she can still go to the
game with them, but she tells them that it’s going to happen sometime it might
as well be tonight. She gets out of the
car and goes to the door. Bobby is
playing the drums for her (how boring).
He tells her that his band got a paying gig; she asks him if the band
gets groupies. He tells her yes, but
they aren’t like her. He tells her that
his parents locked the liquor cabinet so he can’t get her anything to drink. She asks him if he wants to kiss her, and she
tells him to turn off all the lights.
Later that night he drives her back home, he tries to talk to her but
she runs out of the car and into the house.
Karen calls her over so she can check the fit of the costume; Diana
tells her that she wants to go to her room.
Karen comments that she is home early, and she asks her who won the
game. Diana tells her that she really
wants to go to her room. Karen is
confused about what happened.
Val asks
Gary what’s wrong; he tells her that Earl didn’t show up to the meeting that
night. She tells him about the work she
is doing for the benefit, she reminds him that he is supposed to help her with
the lighting, but he tells her that he can’t.
Eric
goes into Diana’s room and tells her that Brenda is on the phone, she tells him
to tell her that she isn’t home.
Ginger
calls Kenny to remind him that he is supposed to bring the sound equipment for
the benefit. Sylvie comes into the room,
and starts singing. After he hangs up
she asks him if he thinks he’ll get back together with Ginger. He tells her that it’s off limits.
Richard
stops by Abby’s and asks her about her sink.
Val asks him if he could go over and check out the garbage disposal, and
he tells her that she should call a repair man.
Abby then gets him to help her with some boxes.
Karen
and Diana are rehearsing the dance number, Diana isn’t concentrating and they
get into a fight, and she runs out of the house.
Diana’s
friends find her at the beach, and they ask her about last night. She tells them that she doesn’t want to talk
about it. Bobby comes over to her and
finds her writing in her journal, he asks her not to talk to her friends about
what happened. She tells him not to
worry she won’t ruin his reputation as a great lover. (I wonder what happened)
Val and
Ginger come by to pick Karen and Diana up for dress rehearsal, Karen tells them
that Diana left, and she is sure that she won’t miss it.
Diana is
still at the beach, a guy comes over to her and asks her what is wrong, they
talk for a bit and he tells her that he just got to LA, and that he is from
Indiana. He offers her a beer.
Ginger
tells Val that she doesn’t think Kenny is coming with the equipment, so Val
asks Bobby if they can borrow his. Karen
asks him if something happened between him and Diana, and if he has seen her,
he only tells her that he saw her at the beach.
Diana is
drunk, she asks what time it is, the guy doesn’t give her an exact time, he
offers to give her a ride, she sees that he has a van. He asks her if it’s a problem, she says no,
but when he tries to kiss her she runs away.
Late that night Diana comes home, Sid and Karen come out to meet her and
ask her where she was, they are upset that she was drinking. Diana tells Karen that all she cares about is
the show. Karen tells Sid that she
should talk to Diana on her own. She
goes up to her room and asks her what is going on. Diana tells her that she doesn’t want to be a
woman, that it’s too hard.
The next
day Richard is at Abby’s in the pool, Brian comes over and asks why he is
always over; Abby tells him that he is helping her clean the pool. She goes to take them over to Val who is
going to take them to the beach.
Kenny
calls Ginger and tells her he is sorry that he missed the dress rehearsal; she
tells him that she knew that she couldn’t count on him.
Diana
comes downstairs and Karen asks how she is feeling. Diana asks her if she can still be in the
show, Karen says yes as long as they can get in a few hours of rehearsal.
Abby
gets into the hot tub with Richard, he pours her a glass of champagne, she
tells him that it’s a shame that Laura has to work on Sunday; she goes on about
how she thinks women shouldn’t work so hard.
He asks her if she wants a back massage, he tells her that he’s been
told that he has good hands, she tells him that he does and that they are
gentle. They kiss.
Kenny
stops by the theater bring the sound equipment.
He and Ginger are talking when Sylvie comes over and tells him that he
needs to talk. He asks her why she’s
here. She is complaining about the
arrangement of the song they are working on.
She wants him to work on the song with her tonight. He tells Ginger that he will try to get back
soon. Ginger looks down at her ring, and
a creepy magician comes over to her and does a trick with his wand and hands
her the bunch of flowers.
Diana
apologizes to Bobby for getting upset.
He tells her that things didn’t happen the way they should have.
Laura is
telling Richard about the house she sold, as Abby comes over to sit by
Richard. She asks him what he did that
day, he tells her he did some rewiring, yuck.
The show
is starting, and Diana and Karen are back stage putting on their makeup. Karen tells her that they need to talk. Diana tells her that she missed her chance,
she has been trying to talk to her all week, but she’s been too
preoccupied. Karen tells her that she is
always that way, but she would have stopped if Diana told her that she wanted
to talk. Diana tells her that she didn’t
go to the game that she went to Bobby’s house, when his parents weren’t
home. Karen asks her if they made love,
and Diana tells her no. She tells her
that she and Bobby love each other, but neither of them knew what to do. Karen tells her that it’s because she wasn’t
ready, she tells her that when it’s right she will know. Diana tells her that she hated to admit that
she needed her. They hug.
Diana
and Karen go out on stage and of course they bring down the house with their routine.
Final
Thoughts: I didn’t care for this
episode, mainly because they didn’t tell you what happened with Diana till the
end, up until then you are thinking something really bad happened or that he
didn’t perform. I think I officially
hate Abby and Richard, I do know that Abby sticks around for a long time, so I
hope Richard doesn’t stick around that much longer. It’s only a matter of time before they get
caught, then it will be bad I can just see it, a huge fight in the cul-de-sac,
with Karen and Sid on Laura’s side, and no one there for Richard or Abby, even
though she is Sid’s sister, he will have to admit what a whore she is.
