Runaway

Dallas
Season 1 Episode 12
Air Date:  Oct. 28, 1978

Recap:  Miss Ellie and Sue Ellen are planning Lucy's birthday party, she isn't happy about the plans since they aren't getting the band she likes or inviting her friends.  Pam wants to have lunch with Bobby, but he tells her that he'll be too busy.  Pam tells Lucy she's brought her some dresses for her to try on, Lucy gets mad at her too because she wants to pick out her own clothes.  Pam agrees with Lucy.
Jock is going to meet with Slade and Oates, Oates will either endorse Slade or Cliff.
Lucy received a letter from her mother, and she told Lucy everything that happened when she left.  She tell Ray that she wants to invite her mother to her party.
At dinner she tells them what she really wants for her birthday is for her mother to come to her party.  JR says no, and Jock agrees with him.  Lucy tries to tell everyone that JR lied, but she is told not to be disrespectful.  Once Lucy leaves the table, Bobby says that they deserve an explanation, but JR blows it off.
The next morning Lucy sneaks out of the house and drives off.  JR is looking for his car keys.  He looks outside and sees that his car is gone, he check and finds Lucy is gone and that she took his gasoline credit card.  Lucy goes into a diner for lunch.  A guy in a van takes a gun from his glove compartment and goes inside the restaurant.  Lucy see the police check out the car, so she leaves a 20 on the table and sneaks out the back, the guy is watching her, so he picks up the 20 and gives it to the waitress, pretending that he was with her.
Lucy is hitchhiking and he picks her up.  She tells him that she's going to San Antonio.  Willie wants to know if she stole the car, and if she's got any money, she shows him JR's credit card.  He thinks this is great.
The family has started searching for Lucy, The police call and say they found the car, Jock blames himself.  Bobby says that he'll go and bring Lucy back.
Lucy and Willie stop at a diner and Lucy asks about Valene, who left sometime ago, she asks if he knows where Valene went, suddenly Willie takes the money from the register and grabs Lucy and drive off.
When Bobby gets to the diner the police are questioning the guy from the diner.  Bobby gives him the money that was stolen and goes after Lucy.
Lucy isn't having fun anymore, and tries to sneak off while Willie is sleeping, but he wakes up stopping her.
At Lucy's party Jock tells Miss Ellie that he should have let Lucy invite Valene to the party.
Lucy and Willie stop for gas (you could see how much gas was this time, 73 cents that's a $1.56 less than what I paid the last time I got gas!).  Willie knocks the attendant out and make Lucy count how much money he got, which is 30 dollars, he goes crazy, I'm beginning to think he's on some serious drugs.
Pam and Sue Ellen make excuses for Lucy not being there, none of the guest are her age so I'm sure no one is really missing her, except the family.  JR is schmoozing with Congressmen Oates.
Bobby talks to the gas station attendant after the police left, he has him call the police in Austin and give them the license number.
Willie spots a sign at a bar offering a $100 prize for a talent contest, he wants Lucy to enter for the money.  The police check out the car and call headquarters.
At the party Oates is talking to Jock and JR, he tells them that they need to keep things clean or he'll back Cliff.
At the bar the police surround the bar.  While Lucy is singing Willie robs the, he grabs her after she finishes her song.  The undercover cop inside the bar tell them that they are going out the back.
The police tell him to freeze, but he has Lucy as a hostage, once he realizes that she didn' steal the car, and that she really is rich.  Bobby tries to negotiate with him.  When he is distracted Lucy pulls his hair and Bobby grabs him and the police swoop in and cuff him.  Bobby and Lucy go to the car to go home.  She asks him if they'll be mad at him at home, he tells her that they won't be mad.
JR thanks Sue Ellen, and that the Congressman loved the party.  Miss Ellie comes out and tells Jock that Lucy and Bobby will be home the next day.
Final Thoughts:  This was a pretty good episode featuring Lucy, I don't know if she did the singing, but it sure didn't sound like her, and the lip singing didn't match up in the beginning of the song.  The guy who picked her up was just really crazy I don't know if he was supposed to seem like he was on drugs but when he would freak out on her or laugh, he was really over the top.
Best Outfit:  I went with the sweet shag carpeted and fur lined van, who wouldn't want this sweet ride.
Fight Count:  1 (Willie vs Bobby/Police/Lucy)
