The Verdict

Dynasty
Season 2 Episode 2
Air Date:  November 11, 1981

Recap:  The jury has come back with a verdict, and everyone is waiting for them to sit down for the verdict to be read.  Blake has been found guilty of manslaughter not murder.  The judge sentences him to 2 years in jail, but with the juror's recommendation it is converted to 2 years probation.  Neither Blake or the prosecuting attorney are pleased with the outcome.  Andrew takes Blake aside and tells him that even though he didn't win, he didn't lose either.  Blake tells him he wants to appeal, Andrew tells him that this will only keep the story alive.
Claudia wants to know why they are strapping her down in the hospital bed, the doctor tells her that they wouldn't do it if she didn't try to leave.  When she tells him that she can't pay the hospital bill, he tells her that it's all be taken care of, she asks how, and he tells her that Blake Carrington has paid for everything.
Steven tries to talk to Blake as he is leaving the courtroom, but Blake tells him that there is nothing for them to talk about.  Andrew tells them that there are reporters waiting in the front, so they go out the back way, Krystle stops as they walk down the stairs, Blake asks her what's wrong and she tells him that she just needs some air.  As they are getting in their car a reporter stops Blake and asks how he thinks Denver Carrington will be affected by the trial, Blake tells that it will be business as usual, asks how that can be since he was convicted of manslaughter grabbing his arm as Blake is trying to get into his car.  Blake tells him to let go of his arm, the reporter asks "or what more manslaughter?"  Jeff steps in and tells him that he'll punch him for Blake, he goes, but tells Blake that he's going to write that story with or without his help.
Steven is home and calls the hospital again to see how Claudia is doing they tell him that she is still in stable condition.
Joseph goes into the kitchen and finds Fallon making bran muffin, Blake's favorite, Joseph remembers finding Fallon in the kitchen making breakfast for Blake every year for his birthday.  Fallon thanks him for being Blake's friend and tells him to stay his friend because Blake only has her and Joseph.
Blake can't sleep and goes downstairs to his study, he is pouring himself a brandy when Krystle comes in, she tells him she couldn't sleep either.  She tells him that she thinks the verdict was unfair.  He asks her if she thinks he can change, and she tells him that she thinks he can.  She tells him that she's ready to come back to his bed.
The next morning Fallon sees Krystle leaving his room, and is being a brat.  Blake tells her to stop that they all need to start being a family.  Jeff tells Fallon that Krystle really loves Blake, just like he loves her.
Claudia calls Matthew's mother, she must have been a joy to be with during the holidays, she tells Claudia that she disgusts her, and that she won't tell her where Matthew took Lindsay.  She hangs up on Claudia, she looks up and sees Steven is there, he tells her how sorry he is for everything he's done.  She tells him it's not his fault that she choose to sleep with him or to cheat on Matthew, but she tells him that she wants him to go, that she wants to be alone.
At Denver Carrington, Blake's secretary tells him that Mrs. Carrington is here to see him (we all know that it won't be Krystle right?).  He is surprised and not happy to see that it is Alexis.  She tells him that she did come back for revenge, but she felt no satisfaction in seeing him found guilty of manslaughter.  Blake blames her for Steven being gay.  He tells her that he wants her out of his office and out of the state, but she tells him as she walks out the door that she will go and stay where ever she chooses to go.
Fallon is having car trouble and calls for Michael, she asks Joseph where he is and he tells her that he was fired this morning.
She goes to Blake and tells him she wants him to rehire Michael, he tells her that it was his decision to fire Michael.  She tries a different tactic and tells him that Alexis is to blame for the verdict her received, he tells her that he still won't rehire Michael, and tells her that she needs to start behaving, because she acts like her mother and that's the last thing he wants in his house.
Krystle is happy to have him home for lunch, things are going well till she tries to talk to him about Steven, he tells her that sometimes he wishes he never had them, and that she was right not to want to have children, and he apologizes for what he did to her that night.  (I am beginning to think that Krystle knows why she's been feeling off)  She tells Blake she doesn't feel like lunch anymore and tries to leave,  he tries to apologize to her again.
Alexis is having lunch with the prosecuting attorney, he wants her to tell him anything else she has on Blake, she tells him not to assume she wanted Blake in jail.  I think right about now he's regretting bringing her out here.  He tells her that she volunteered to testify and implied that she would give him more on Blake.  She won't tell him anything else, so he offers to take her to the airport, but she tells him that she's still got business in town.
Joseph finds Alexis in the studio that Blake built for her.  He asks how she got in, she tells him she told the man at the gate who she was, he reminds her that she's no longer the mistress of the house.  She calls him a perjurer and he tells her that she lied too.  Alexis tell him to go that she wants to be alone, he tells her that he's keep a scrapbook of all her exploits, that he found in the scandal magazines.  She tells him that she'd love to see it.
Blake and Andrew are celebrating, Andrew has to make a phone call and leaves Blake alone, he spots the prosecutor, and goes over to him.  They have a past, Blake once offered him a lot of money to play on his football team, but he gave it up to go to law school.   They argue and Blake leaves him saying that justice is blind because of people like him.
Steven is looking at a photo of Ted, when Krystle comes to see him, she tells him she wants to talk to him about his father.
Krystle brings Steven home to make things up with Blake, things are going well till Blake tell him that he forgives him for testifying against him.  Steven gets upset about this and tells him that he told the truth and that he doesn't accept his apology.  Steven tries to leave, but Blake tries to grab him, Steven screams that Ted wasn't enough and leaves the house.  Krystle tells Blake that he promised things would change, and he says you mean me.  She walks in the the drawing room, and he thinks she's walking away from him too, till she collapses to the floor, he rushes to her side and tells Joseph to call for the doctor.  Krystle tells him that she thinks she's pregnant.  While he's waiting for the doctor to talk to him about Krystle, Joseph tell him to look outside.  He sees men moving things into the art studio.  He rushes over there and demands to know what Alexis is doing, she tells him that she's moving in and reminds him that he gave her the deed so there's nothing he can do to get her out.
Final Thoughts:  Krystle being pregnant didn't come to any surprise, how will Fallon feel about it?  I liked the back and forth bantering between Alexis and Joseph.  And of course I was happy that Michael will no longer be on the show.
Best Outfit:  It looks like she's getting ready to paint or something not type the verdict.
Fight Count:  1 (Steven vs Blake)
