Spy in the House

Dallas
Season 1 Episode 3
Air Date:  April 16 1978

Recap:  Bobby's office is getting renovated, and one of the worker is wearing a sweet yellow visor.  They are making too much noise and Bobby can't concentrate, he goes home to work, but not before so foreshadowing, as JR tells Bobby he shouldn't take the "Red Files" out of the office.  Julie is going to pick up some lunch, and meets Cliff on her way, he's flirting with her and gives her his unlisted number.
Jock is playing cards with Senator Orloff, who has helped the Ewings out a lot, they talk about Cliff and his vendetta for the Ewings.
Pam takes Bobby to look at their house, he puts the file on the top of the sofa and it falls behind it, this can only lead to trouble.
Sue Ellen bought some new lingerie, but JR tells her to return it, because it's not her style.
They argue and he leaves and goes to Julie's apartment.  He forgot her birthday, so he leaves her with a $1000.00 bill, telling her to buy herself something nice, he doesn't make her feel like a whore at all.  She calls Cliff to get back at JR.
The next day Bobby realizes that he left the file at home, and JR makes some comment to their father about Bobby, Pam is going to bring it to him before she goes to lunch with her brother.  Pam gives the file to Julie because Bobby is busy,
Julie looks at the file and sees something that interests her.  Julie goes to Cliff's house, after they have sex, she gives him a copy of what was in the file, it's the mortgage to Senator Orloff's house, the Ewings loaned him the money to the house and he hasn't paid them back.  Cliff is going to hold a news conference, he's feeling great since he's got something on the Ewings at last.  JR, of course blames Pam for this, thinking that she gave him the paper.  Bobby can't believe no one, but him will defend Pam, they leave and will stay in a hotel until this blows over.  They decided that they will figure out who leaked the info to Cliff, he wants Pam to ask Cliff where he got it, but he won't tell her, while Pam is at Cliff's office Julie calls, she's surprised that he would release the information she gave him, like she really thought he wouldn't use it.
The Ewings decide it's time to call on the loan, and of course leave it to Bobby to tell the Senator.  When they met up the Senator goes on and on about how great his house it, then Bobby drops the bombshell and tells the Senator that he can keep his house or he can give up his seat on the senate.
Pam and Bobby met up and discuss the situation, she tells him that Julie had the file too, but he doesn't think it's her because she's been with the company for so long and besides, she's been sleeping with JR for so long.
After their dinner Julie and Cliff are walking back to his house, they are talking about the Ewings and the Senator, we also find out a bit more than we need to, when Julie lets us know that he's ticklish behind his knees.
At the office the next day Pam and Bobby look in Julie's Rolodex and find Cliff's unlisted number, which he just got a month ago.  Pam calls Cliff and tells him she's going to come over.  Julie tells him she's going to go, because she doesn't want Pam to see her there anymore than he wants his sister to see Julie with him.  Julie puts the radio on and they hear that Senator Orloff has resigned, this makes Cliff pout like a little kid, because he lost his chance to get the Ewings.  He says that Julie can get him something else, and she finally realizes that Cliff is just as bad as JR.  Pam catches Julie leaving and confronts her.
Back at the office Bobby tells JR that is was Julie who leaked the trustee deed to Cliff, JR doesn't believe him.  Julie gets to the office and tells JR that she quits and that it was her who gave Cliff the file on the Senator.
At Southfork Bobby complains to the whole family about how they all were so quick to believe the worst of Pam, and Lucy makes everyone laugh by telling him that it was just because the all thought she was guilty.  Lucy then makes JR kiss Pam after the whole family apologizes to her.
Final Thoughts:  This wasn't a great episode, you really see how corrupt the Ewings are.  Sue Ellen got a bit more to do in this episode.
Best Outfit:  I had a hard time with this for this episode, nothing was really terrible so I went with this.  The rust color pants remind me of the orange kitchen cabinets we had in our old house in Illinois, which I bet was from the same time, if not older.

Fight Count: 1 (JR and Sue Ellen)
