Air Date:  November 12, 1978 (1978-11-12)
Recap:  Pam gets a phone call from Bobby, they are both out of town and were going to meet up at the hotel they stayed at after they got married.  Bobby isn’t happy that she’s working too hard.
JR tells Bobby that he wants to be a part of Bobby’s meeting, all of a sudden JR seems really interested in Bobby’s construction business.  Bobby tells JR that he’ll keep out of Ewing Oil if JR keeps out of Ewing Construction.
Jock’s doctor is giving him a check up, he reminds him that he needs to take it easy.
Pam wants to go home, and Liz says that if she had a husband as cute as Bobby she would want to leave too, she lets Pam leave a few days early.  Pam calls Southfork to tell Bobby she’s coming home, but since he’s not home she leaves the message with Lucy, who tells her that Bobby will be home by them so should be able to pick her up.
Sue Ellen goes to see Cliff, she wants him to help her find the girl that she was going to adopt the baby from, but Cliff tells her he can’t help because she can’t adopt without JR’s consent.  They go have lunch.
There is a really bad storm, and the plane is loses power, it looks like they are going to crash.
Miss Ellie gets a phone call from the airfield they tell her that the plane disappeared.  She doesn’t want Jock to know about what’s going on till they know for sure what happened to JR and Bobby.  She tells them that everyone needs to pretend that everything is ok.
Ray goes to pick up Pam, and he tells her what Miss Ellie said.
Cliff wants Sue Ellen to come back to his place, but after she calls the house to let them know she’s going to be late, Miss Ellie tells her to get home right away.
At the house Miss Ellie tells her to go wash her face and come out when she’s ok.  She goes to call the airfield to see if there is anymore news.  The storm is still bad so they can’t search anymore till it’s passed.
Sue Ellen comes home and Pam tells her about the plane.  Over dinner everyone is very careful what they talk about.  Jock is kind of annoyed that JR and Bobby aren’t home, they tell him about the storm.
Lucy is trying to find her father, but Sue Ellen makes her hang up, they fight, and Lucy tells Sue Ellen that if JR is dead that she’ll never have Southfork since she doesn’t have a baby.
A reporter calls and asks Miss Ellie about the plane, she tells him that she’s got no comment.  She calls Ray and tells him to keep all the reporters off the property.  Ray tells the other ranch-hands what needs to be done.
Pam tells Sue Ellen that she thinks she’s had enough to drink, but Sue Ellen that she doesn’t think she’s had enough yet.  Pam smacks Sue Ellen after she asks Pam how  many men paid her bills before she married Bobby, then Sue Ellen admits to her that if JR is dead then she have nothing.
Ray checks in with Miss Ellie, there is a knock on the door and it’s that reporter who called earlier, Miss Ellie gets him off the property with a shot gun, but when she goes back into the house she finds Jock on the stairs and he has heard everything.  He asks why she didn’t tell him.  She says it was because she was afraid of what it might do to him.  He tells her that he’s ok, and she says that there is still a chance that they are both alive.
Jock sends Ray to join in the search and tells him about the signals Jock taught JR when they were camping.  He tells him that no matter what to bring his boys home.
Miss Ellie joins Pam outside and tells her that Jock knows about the boys, she tells her that she’s scared, and then tells her about when they were babies.  She says that JR was a quiet and shy baby, but when Gary was born Jock took over raising him, and when Bobby was born her was spoiled with all the things that JR wanted and the things that Gary didn’t.
At the crash site JR and Bobby hear the helicopter, and Ray spots them thanks to JR’s distress signals.
Jock gets the phone call about the rescue, and tells them that Ray is bringing them home.  When they get back they are greeted by the whole family, and JR tells Jock that he remembered everything that he taught him.
Final Thoughts:   This episode was just so-so, though you get to know a little of how JR was when he was growing up, so if things worked out differently he probably would have been a different man.  I like the part where Miss Ellie kicked the reporter off the property.
Best Outfit:  This looks like a sack with a belt put around it, look at the collar when I saw that, that is what I thought of.
Fight Count:  2 (Pam vs Sue Ellen) (Lucy vs Sue Ellen)
